Hey. Ready to meet up? I don't mind where, so pick a spot and we'll head there. Just try not to choose anything too close to where people are trying to live.
Edited (ok now that I'm dead from copy paste, I can fix this aND I FORGOT MY ICON spams your inbox woops) 2018-03-24 01:18 (UTC)
Hey. Finished everything up, so here’s the deal. One teacher, one student, and one spar match. Teacher is Caramia over at #B90B3C. Sword-fighting isn’t his strong point, but he can take a hit, so don’t be afraid to try practicing with different fighting styles. He can give you a pointer or two about what to expect. See what you can draw from him, and don’t rely on your speed too much.
Your student is Shouto. #57A7C5. This time I want you to use your speed to give him trouble. Make him react to you face to face instead of relying on that quirk of his. But that’s just my tip.
Oh, and you’ll be sparring Izuku #FFDF00. He’s strong enough to handle even me, so don’t underestimate him like he does himself.
There are no changes. If you back out of this, you’re letting everyone down, so go tell them yourself and don’t waste my time again. I’m not holding your hand through all of this, but you can let me know if you have questions. That’s all.
[So yeah, John definitely sleeps through the whole night because Dave's an asshole and doesn't wake him up, so by the time he rouses into consciousness he's a little sleepy still and disoriented. He squints briefly, trying to figure out why he's outside before he remembers:]
Hey. I need you to add another student to your list. Emma is her name, #F1C40F. Don't know if you know here, but she's pretty young and just human, but it's clear she's used to dealing with some serious shit.
She wants to learn to use things around her to defend herself, so I thought you'd be a good fit. You can use your head enough. Try to give her some real lessons. Let me know if there are any questions. Thanks.
[There isn't anything worse than waiting, especially in a situation like this. So when he spots Dave coming out of the forest, Izuku practically runs up to him.]
[That could have gone better. He trudges out of the forest muddy and exhausted but whatever he has a golden leaf so who gives a fuck. Reasonably one would think he'd go to take a bath or like. Go back to his own house...but no. John Egbert has never been a reasonable person.
Instead, he finds himself heading to Dave's house and sitting on the front step. He's not sure if Dave's even home yet but he can wait for confirmation either way. He picks at some drying mud off of his hands and twirls the leaf by its stem in his hand, idling looking up and wondering if Dave's already on the roof, too.
[ Whatever day where it's finally stopped raining and Ryoji can take a late night walk without worrying about drowning the moment he steps outside of the house. With the town mostly deserted and the houses standing empty, it's very easy to see when somebody is awake, faint lights filtering from the window if they've got their laptop open, for example, which is the example I'm going to use to justify Ryoji being in front of Dave's house.
He should probably knock or something, but he's sort of afraid of breaking the door and the entire building coming collapsing down on him, so instead, he picks up a tiny pebble and flicks it at the window.
[I just didn't want to keep doing it on the network post. So anyway, like naturally he immediately left his house as soon as Dave said the door was open and so fifteen minutes later he appears at Dave's house in Ruga and he knocks on the door. It's a reflect more than anything, but since Dave said the door was open he just enters the house on his own and steps into the main room to see if Dave's even in the house or if he's on the roof.
[ They're supposed to meet at the well at a certain time, and Cairn is someone that likes to be punctual (most of the time), but since waking up here mid-hibernation, it's a little harder to have the motivation to get out of bed on time, if they're being honest. So when they show up about 15 minutes late to the well while covering their mouth with a yawn, they have a little sense of urgency if only because it's a little rude to be late... but it's not like this quest is a life-or-death matter, so they're not terribly concerned. ]
I overslept, sorry. [ Despite saying that, it doesn't really sound that much like an apology, but more lke a reflex. ] Have you been here that long?
[Because...well. Dave was eaten by his own shadow and that was probably one of the most horrifying things John's seen here. Not to mention what he saw before when Dave's shades were gone.
It was grounding and earthshattering all at once but he didn't let himself dwell on it for too long. Vriska was still a statue, but Terezi had to know. Terezi had to know what was happening and so he went to find her.
And that was how he discovered Terezi was gone, too.
What a strange, strange world.
With that said, he found himself ignoring the conversation he'd had with Dave about checking in with people and wandered his way to Ruga. He brought his laptop with him and he let himself into Dave's house, making a face at the distinct lack of color again.
Over the next few days...he cleaned. He organized. He stocked the kitchen with some food he found in town...he attempted to make a freezer of some kind but gave up the project half-way, leaving a crate in the kitchen. He keeps himself busy and ahead of his shadow, washing blankets and sheets and straightening things up for whenever Dave got back just because that seems to be what he likes to do when he's waiting.
He's bored and he's worried and he's pissed, mostly.
But eventually he gives up on shadow-watch and falls asleep on Dave's couch after losing his sixth staring contest with Nauti Buoy. The shadows seem to fade away without noticing and John...snores, kind of. And maybe drools a little on the couch.
So that's what Dave gets to come back to. Oh well.]
Found it. Looks like you were right and I'm in Ruga. I've got a place on the very corner of the first street on the side closest to Bluo. So you'll know where to find me if you ever need me for anything or if you want to hang out. I'm on my own so feel free to barge in whenever.
[ or alternatively, dave will know what house to avoid ... dirk will leave that up to him. ]
My name is Clark Kent. I'm recently arrived here and I was told you were the person to speak to to ask about farming efforts that may be going on. I'm happy to throw my help and support your way but I wanted to see what progress you'd made, what you think needs doing, or where I can actually get to helping as the case may be.
I grew up on a family farm, so this is actually somewhat in my wheelhouse, if you can believe that.
Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope to speak to you soon.
