[ john...dave eyes him for a moment before uncurling from his armchair position and standing, setting the cup aside to pull his camera out of his sylladex. ]

[He floats on over and settles next to him but he's also immediately kind of

putting Dave in a headlock/hooking an arm around his shoulders to pull him down. It's partially for the picture and partially for the contact, kind of like this icon.

Maybe he's not that stupid.]

[ there's the same maybe now-familiar tensing that's sort of freezing up uncertainly at the contact. it doesn't last; it never has the few times john's latched on, save for stunned silence the first time on that one planet that lasted like a half minute tops.

dave shoves at john's face but doesn't shove him away, leaning subtly into the contact in the awkward and sort of hesitant way he usually has. ]

[He's keeping his grip around Dave's shoulder pretty firm, pulling in a little since Dave's being...Dave. It's not exactly a hug, but it's contact and it's something he doesn't mind giving right now.

As told, there's a duckface when Dave takes the picture and he takes the catcharoid in his hands and he starts laughing.]

Nice. [He holds onto it instead of immediately banishing it to his sylladex. He's also not quite moving away.] ...we've known each other forever and we didn't get to do that yet. So I wanted to fix that.

There's kind of a lot of bullshit we've never done together. [ the trials and tribulations of being online friends. john doesn't move away and after a minute or so dave leans into him but doesn't really escalate the leaning to Hugging because how the fuck do you even. ]

[Glad it's a photo of Dave looking Dave-like and John being a huge goober. It's kind of perfect though and it just means he'll be happy with it. But the uptick is practically a fullblown grin as far as he's concerned so there's a wider smile.]

Yeah, there is. We haven't done like concerts or movie nights in person or epic slumber parties or any of that dumb stuff. [He registers the lean and doesn't quite let go. It's been a weird day, given.] We need like a bucket list of friendship.

Concerts and movie nights are maybe out of reach in fairy tale peasant land. [ slumber parties maybe aren't but dave has no idea what the fuck you do at them. ] What the fuck do you even do at epic slumber parties? I know if you're a girl and also a huge movie trope about to be murdered or something you have pillow fights.

Concerts maybe not. Riku is teaching me how to play the guitar. [But enough about that.] I think at epic slumber parties you kind of do whatever you want? You eat a bunch of junk food and you play games and you just hang out with your friends doing whatever makes you happy.

Or yeah, if you are a girl, you run away from serial killers after having sexy pillow fights.

I've never known you to stay up all that late overall, dude. You usually sleep through the night? [ dave still isn't moving away? he's just more solidly leaning like that's normal. ]

[He doesn't know what's up, but he can tell Dave's weight is steadily being applied to leaning so he doesn't push him away.]

Yeah, well, I have stayed up late for streams with you haven't I?

We don't have those here. [ okay guess they're just standing awkwardly in their living room like this. if john doesn't move soon dave's getting dangerously close to just dropping his head onto john's shoulder and talking about random bullshit until john moves away in confusion ]

No. [He gives Dave another curious look.] Slumber party. We're doing it. It is way too early to really sleep anyway.
