Oh my god, fine. If I let you do something for my birthday will you tell me when it's yours?

An actual celebration. It can be just us if you absolutely want but I am fully willing to plan a party.

[windeity]

Why are you so determined? [He sounds amused but he's curious.]

[parodeity]

Because it's the first time I've ever been around on your birthday in person and we squandered it?

[windeity]

[He rolls his eyes.] Fine...what do you want to do for my birthday then? Besides a party, I got that part.

[parodeity]

Do you want a party? [ he's genuinely asking. they both kind of liked the family dinner but it had been a relief when it had ended, also. ]

[windeity]

[It. Sure was. It's why he doesn't reply immediately.] ...it would be fun, I guess, but my last couple of birthdays have just been me and Jade playing video games or watching movies while Nannasprite baked a bunch of cake. So a party might be a bit much?

[Also John's come to find he likes planning parties but isn't sure how to feel about people throwing him parties, especially in this place.]

[parodeity]

Is there more to it than that? [ he's not arguing he's just. trying to understand genuinely, because he's curious. he knows why he might not be down for a big party dedicated to him, but he wants to know the whys of john egbert, too. ] Or just acclimation?

[windeity]

Acclimation. [That's almost immediate instead.] We're still in kind of a weird situation. I don't mind the idea but we already have a lot happening here.

[parodeity]

I keep trying to do more and more stuff so I don't have to pause. [ mildly. ] So...what would you want to do for your birthday?

[windeity]

Yeah, I noticed. [He's gotten that impression well enough, especially this month. But he shrugs.] I haven't given it much thought. It is harder to plan when we're missing a bunch of stuff. Just hanging out and spending time with people is good enough.

[parodeity]

Do you want there to be other people? [ if so which ones, throw him a bone here. ] I assume baked goods are still a no and I can't make cake anyway.

[windeity]

Oh. Birthday cake is okay but only for that day. [He still ate the cake Nannasprite gave him...] Other people would be fine. People we both get along with, like Minato and Okuyasu and Ochako and Izuku and Momo and Shouto and Vriska and stuff.

[Not that he and Vriska are quite getting along, but whatever.] Ultimately something like a board game night would be fun if we had the materials for that. Something everybody could do together instead of just like...mingling. You know? Kind of like a lower version of the game day you're organizing.

[parodeity]

[ an uncomfortable shift but he doesn't disagree or naysay, just moves a little and pauses before he's gathered his thoughts. ]

I can figure out board games, sure.

[windeity]

[This close, he can feel that?]

What's wrong now?

[parodeity]

Nothing's wrong. I'm just thinking. [ he says it dryly, but he hasn't stopped clinging to john. ] What's your favorite board game?

[windeity]

[He lifts an eyebrow and kind of wants to ask what the hell he's thinking about, but he'll come back to that. He also doesn't say anything about the clinging and hasn't removed his arm yet so like. Balance. Whatever.]

Clue maybe? Mostly because I think the names are funny and it's a different game every single time.

[parodeity]

So nothing that can be predicted. Monopoly is a no?

[windeity]

Monopoly would keep us busy, but you've already taken all of my fake money enough. [A grin.] And I am not great at Scrabble.

[parodeity]

Have you ever really played anyone but me and the girls?

[windeity]

Not really. Online sometimes and Dad and I would play sometimes but not really.

[parodeity]

Sooo you've never played anyone you could beat.

[ RUDE ]

[windeity]

Not what I said. [Excuse???] Those are games that require more than skill, Dave. It's an equal shot.

[parodeity]

Okay, but are you that skilled at it? [ no excuse ]

[windeity]

I'm skilled enough at competitive and lucky guesses. Doesn't that count? You'll just have to play against me and see.
