...it was always going to be hard for me, Dave. It'd be harder if I didn't get to make the most of my time with you guys here though.

I know. Everything that could have gone wrong then went wrong and then some. I hate it. I hate how everything turned out, but you can't apologize for stuff that wasn't really on you.

I didn't manage to save Jade. [ but that's as useless as john saying he should have saved all of them. ] But yeah. In a perfect world we would have had time to do a lot more, maybe.

You tried. That was more than we could have asked of you, or any of us. Like...does it ever occur to you that we never knew what we were signing up for and that it just happened? It's weird sometimes.

Yeah. I mean. When I was thirteen before all of this I figured - maybe I'd get to meet you eventually?

I was hoping. To meet you guys. That was always a thing I knew someday but sometimes I wondered.

I figured maybe I could like convince you to room with me someday.

[windeity]

Like for college or something? I wouldn't have minded that.

[parodeity]

Yeah, maybe after you finished up? [ for some reason he...didn't think he would do college, mostly because he had no earthly clue if bro wanted him to or not. HARD TO SAY. ]

I still would have said yes. Where would you have wanted to live? Close to Rose?

[parodeity]

Yeah. I mean, maybe. If she could stand us and you were down. And like. I don't know. I figured life would be...I figured it was possible we could like. Fall into a pattern. Holidays and normal days and whatever the fuck else. We could all of us argue about what to get for dinner or what movie to watch or when someone was leaving the place someone else could say hey pick up some shampoo for me or something really normal, you know?

That sounds nice...daily life you know? I think we would have managed that just fine. December would be a nightmare but in a fun way.

[parodeity]

[ ...there's a long pause. but no. he can't be selfish enough right now to say i still want that when there isn't any way to make that a thing. ]

Yeah? You think this roommates thing is working out okay?

I don't know if it's the best thing for you, or if I'm the greatest roommate. But I like having you here.

[There's a low hum of contemplation.] I do not see how it would be a bad thing for me here. I think you and I are working out pretty much how I expected. It's nice. I like having you around.
