A lot I just took from empty houses, but Minato also brought me way too many when I was sick and piled them on me. [ he grabs the pillows into his sylladex one handed and apparently is Content with not letting go of john's hand. he's at least relaxing a little. ] Why do we need the laptops?
Makes sense. I guess I am just a little surprised you sleep with all of them. [Lightly. Sleeping is a questionable word here. Still they have their supplies and he moves to head back to his room. It's not too hard to see the correlation between Dave relaxing and holding his hand. It's strange if he thinks about it for too long but he's happier this way with Dave calming down.
To his room they go. The bed is made and while there aren't very personal touches on the wall there's a chair in his room with a blanket casually tossed on it, a few books he picked up and brought back, scattered items from his sylladex and yet everything is nice and organized. He steps into his room with Dave in tow.]
If we move the chair and the dresser and pin the blanket roof to the bed that should be tall enough.
[ it's lived in and johnlike and it feels like walking out of the cold into a very warm house or something. dave just nods and steps in to help move things. probably this means john's going to drop his hand, alas. ]
Not really. [But he drops Dave's hand gently to start moving things to build their fort. ] It'd be really weird having someone else show up. Besides, the house is occupied. I think the town wouldn't allow it.
Keith got a few people again. [ by way of explanation. he's a little sad the physical contact thing has come to an end but doesn't complain and simply helps shift furniture. ] So...
[A confused look. He clearly hasn't heard this. As it is maybe if Dave asks they can continue later?? But John is focused on their epic pillow fort, unfolding blankets and draping sheets.]
Okay well. If that happens we will just have to...I don't know. I guess decide if they want to stay or if they want to move. You moved right away, remember?
[A shrug.] Then we talk to them about what's best for all three of us and if we cannot come to an agreement we figure it out from there. The houses only fit three people anyway.
We could. [He pauses for a moment.] ...Jake and Dirk showed up. That means there is still a chance Rose and Jade will. And when they do, they can live here. They can share a room and we can share a room and we'll make it work.
[A brighter grin. It apparently doesn't matter which Dave means and he works on building a base and padding for the floor of their fort.] I bet they wouldn't either. It would be nice to have all four of us in the same place for longer than a few minutes. And the rooms are big enough anyway, but we'd probably have to get more beds unless someone slept on the floor. That would be the only problem.
No way. That sounds uncomfortable, that would be a last resort. I bet we could drag the mattresses into the same room if we tried. Borrow them from another empty house and set them up. That would work.
[With the structure built he uses the extra pillows to reinforce the walls and make the floor soft.] Yeah, I figured. But I am just saying. Nobody should permanently sleep on the floor.
[Despite that being what they're doing now.] Here, drape this blanket over the top right there and we should be good.
[He follows Dave into the blanket fort, dropping the "door" closed and grabbing his laptop out of his 'dex. Opening it lights up the fort a little and John sits on the ground next to him, shoulder pressing briefly against Dave's shoulder. He's curious if it's a contact thing.]
Well...we cannot stream a movie because they don't exist here, but I thought we could improvise! We can draw stuff in paint and make up a movie that way.
[ john, stop doing science experiments on your best friend. pressing briefly against dave gets him to tense but there's no pause to chill back out when it's just a brief thing. he's sitting cross legged and hunched over, and he doesn't drag out his laptop immediately. ]
[Well. He's going to keep leaning then since it's comfortable and also they can both reach the laptop this way. Shoulder to shoulder, he's leaning against Dave comfortably as he opens paint.]
The second one's for extra light and an extra screen for the really big scenes, dummy. Unless you want it to be darker?
It's probably more comfortable for you with more light. [ he's never actually told john he prefers it darker, has he? so he decaptchalogues the second laptop and hands it over after unlocking it with his password.
he tenses as john leans into him but he doesn't shove him off. the tension fades a little but he doesn't unbend to what he had a little while ago in the living room, just accepting the contact as accidental and temporary. ]
[He doesn't move away, adjusting the brightness on the screens before he angles one for light and picks a color for MSPaint.]
It's a little better, yeah. If you get tired though we can turn off the second laptop later. What movie do you want to watch? [Watch, because while his art is not that great, he's going to do his best.]

Sure. Don't think we need two for that, dude.
