[ it was and his fingers are going to be freezing even if he can ignore that and move them. tbh he's. probably pretty cold by this point but it doesn't seem to really be effecting him at all beyond probably being rosy cheeked or whatever. ]

Fine. [The cards are shuffled and he deals out seven, pretty determined to make this game fast given the circumstances. He sets out a discard pile and flips over a four of spades as their starter card.] And since it was my deal, you go first.

like, he's definitely gonna lose but dave will actually play to the best of his ability here so john will have to earn the win, probably. a pitched battle with seven stupid cards. ]

[Six of hearts goes down next and he seems to be eyeballing his cards carefully. This is the stupidest contest they've done so far, why are they doing this on a rooftop at like 2am? Well. No. John knows what he's doing probably. He just has to win first.]

[ eight of hearts is tossed in rapid-fire. and this is absolutely a stupid contest and a stupid time for it and someone needs to revoke their roof access immediately? ]

...take your pick. [Eights are wild and John's staring at the cards instead of Dave. Keito needs to be a better RA and ban them from doing this ever again.]

[...he's just going to stare at the rest of his hand which is solely black cards.] Are you kidding me. [That is out loud to the cards more than Dave before he has to draw three and he throws down a 9 of diamonds.]

[ still diamonds! dave still has only red cards so that's stupid and he puts down the three of diamonds this time.

[This is not helpful so he's going to turn the tables a bit and throw down a three of clubs. And maybe hope that luck is on his side here.]

Fuck. [ okay, he ends up needing to draw four cards before he can finally toss down the two of clubs. this is terrible. that...brings him back to seven...

[That's enough to give him a sense of what kind of cards Dave may have, so he's going to be an asshole and play the seven of clubs just to keep it in the family. No big deal.

[ goddamnit. he pulls five more to get King of spades and ends up at ten cards. ]

[There's a smirk and he throws down the ace of spades.]

[ he has to pull some more before he raises an eyebrow and tosses down the eight of spades. ]

Hearts, asshole.

[ HE IS AT 15 CARDS, ALSO, ]

[He keeps getting down to five and then Dave keeps fucking him over, so there's a frustrated huff before he picks up three cards from the draw pile and throws down a five of hearts.]

[ SINCE MOST OF HIS FUCKING HAND IS HEARTS, YES, THAT IS BETTER. jack of hearts, thank god. ]
