[ muffled into john's shoulder because his face is cold too. look. ]

Vague confirmation is fine, which I am assuming is this. [Fine. He'll just rub Dave's arms to warm him up because Dave Strider is a huge baby when it comes to the cold.] If I remember right I made you a deal for Saturday.

[ rubbing his arms merits a sigh because that does help with warm, but yeah. ]

Did you? [ he remembers flippantly telling john to make him breakfast at some point but. ]

Uh huh. [He thinks about if it's possible to bottle a cloud or if it'd disappear. Why is John a science major, exactly?]

It's still early that everyone in the dorm should still be asleep, too.

It'll reheat. We could always go back to bed instead? [He's pretty impartial to how they spend this particular Saturday, but also:] ...I mean I am kind of hungry now that I'm awake but.

I want to see you cook. [ dave elaborates. SO ]

Sometimes I think you take way too much joy out of the most mundane things. [Not that he minds. He doesn't, and the tone makes it obvious. He kind of appreciates it before he turns to keep providing as much warmth as possible.]

You'll come back out with me again later? When it's not 4am on a Saturday morning.

Depends. Will cooking involve a stupid apron? [ like with a cooking pun on it??? ] But yeah. You only ever have to ask?

I am never going to wear an apron no matter how much my Nanna probably wants me to. It mostly involves me cooking in my pajamas and probably trying to figure out how our dormmates might've fucked up the stove again. Is that still appealing?

It would sound more appealin' with a stupid apron. Maybe a chef's hat.

Ugh. While I admit I look okay in hats that is definitely pushing it. But to make up for that, I'll even let you drag my blanket into the kitchen since it is probably still a little cold in the dorm.

No one looks okay in hats. [ tbh he doesn't really LIKE hats, but chef's hats are goofy enough to pass. ] You should cook in an apron at least once in your life. One of the ones with like, a stupid cooking pun on the front. You're not a real baker until you do.

[...out of nowhere he suddenly laughs at something he remembers but he shuts up quickly enough. Instead, he runs a hand through the clouds one more time before he starts to descend and test his speed and agility in the air while still letting Dave cling for now.]

You're right, most hats are pretty goofy. But anyway if I absolutely have to wear an apron I'll wear one only for the first meal we're making whenever we move out of the dorm. Deal? [That gives him several months and therefore he wins.]

[ what if dave shifts so john just has to give him a piggyback ride here. and so that john can't see his expression. ]

Okay. I think I can uphold that bargain. [The flight down is smoother than the flight up and not too long after they land on the roof. He rubs at Dave's arms again to provide extra warmth before he glances back at the door leading back into the dorm.]

Want to head to the room first to get a blanket and meet me in the kitchen?

[ no he wants to stay clinging to john but that’s childish and stupid so dave drops off after half a second.

Sure thing. Won’t take me more than a few seconds.

[Like. He could do that but also that defeats the point of breakfast so he waits for Dave to let go before he leads them inside.]

Cool. Bring the cat if you want, too, she's probably mad we both ditched her. [And he'll immediately deposit Dave at their room before he heads for the kitchen.]

[ ...dave can probably actually beat john to the kitchen if he tries, but he doesn't; he just walks down there normally, mewpac cradled against his chest and blanket slung over one shoulder. ]

[When Dave arrives in the kitchen he'll find John already moving to grab some things like bowls, powders,oils, eggs, etc. He's still in his hoodie and shivering just a little since the change in temperature is jarring but he's quickly warming up and starting to measure things out. Hearing Dave enter the kitchen, he turns to give him another grin.]

Once the stove's on the kitchen will warm up a little more, too.
