I was not, you are correct. [Pancakes are reheated though and he turns to hand him the plate again with the syrup and a fork.] I haven't woken up this early since spring semester of my senior year.

[ this time dave actually takes the plate and just. hops up to sit on the counter this time and eat with it in his lap? ]

[He'll reheat his pancakes too and in no time have his own plate, leaning against the counter next to Dave's legs.]

Training! I used to get up and go running before I had to get ready for school. My sleeping schedule was sort of a mess on the weekends but it worked out.

I am pretty sure I actually agreed to maybe go runnin' in the mornings sometimes.

[ which. doesn't bug him, actually. he's fine with physical activity, he just hates Nature. ]

Sometimes. [He grins a little before cutting up his pancakes and taking a few bites.] I wouldn't do it now. It's getting too cold.

With El, [ dave clarifies, shrugging. ] And I dunno if she cares or not about that. I'll have to ask.

[...] That was unexpected. I didn't think Eleanor was athletic. Like no offense, I like her a lot, but that was definitely unexpected. But if you want to go running with her it might be good for you.

I mean, I'd have to go slow, but I'd have to go slow for anyone. Same thing with trainin' when I can get people to agree to it.

That doesn't change what I said about it being good for you. [He also gives a meaningful look to the pancakes. Stop stalling, Dave.]

And why do you say that? [ look he'll take bites between questions and while john is talking, does that work ]

[It counts, yes.] Because running's a good way to clear your head and wind down. It's part of why you train in the first place isn't it?

[parodeity]

Partly. [ keeping moving helps, but also, he just feels...uneasy if he doesn't? ] But it's also just...habit, I guess.

Might be good for her, too. Get her out of the lab for a while, interact with the world a little. [John seems to concern himself with a handful of people, apparently.]

Are you still up for trainin' with me?

Yeah, of course I am. It can't hurt to know what I'm doing.

...When do you wanna start up?

Next week? We could always just take a few hours on our Saturdays to do that if you want. I don't mind picking another day either though.

[ a one shouldered shrug and he takes a second to chew and swallow the pancake bit he was working on. ]

Basically whatever evenings you want to join me for that you can. Don't care when.

Are you training every night or what? [That could work in theory, but let's see.]

Yes? [ THINGS HE JUST ASSUMED JOHN KNEW SOMEHOW: THAT ]

[He assumed but also. It's getting cold.] Okay. I'll text if I want to join you on the roof and we'll go a few rounds. [He's already finished his pancakes because despite wanting to go back to bed for a while he's also still a healthy young adult and will eat at stupid hours of the morning...]

[ the one thing dave will go in the cold for: training in the evening ] Sure.

[ he's. a slower eater when chatting but he gets through the majority of his pancakes in like, five minutes or so if john's quiet? ]

Cool. [John will be quiet because he's also starting to clean up the kitchen and wash dishes while Dave finishes, so probably by the time Dave eats his pancakes John's ready to take his plate and wash that off, too. His movements are a little slow and he shivers again just slightly but he's still alert enough.]

[parodeity]

[ john shivers and dave hands over his plate but also swings the blanket off of him and over onto john, so. then he hops off the counter and goes to chase down mewpac before john can mount a protest. ]

[windeity]

[He doesn't object this time and he finishes cleaning while Dave scoops up their cat and he moves toward the doorway of the kitchen. He's also keeping the blanket like a cape, fight him.]

What're you going to do when we get back upstairs? [Mostly because he's not going to force Dave to go back to bed if he doesn't want to.]
