You sure you're prepared to eat it? ...In like half an hour or however long. [ he's not moving off the bed yet though. ]

You make it sound like you are going to poison me instead. [Moving is for chumps.]

[parodeity]

I would never poison you. Then I'd be best friendless. ...you doing better?

[windeity]

...yeah, I think so. [A light smile.] I think it is always going to feel weird, but somehow you always make things better anyway so I'm not that surprised.

[parodeity]

That's what best friends are for. Wanna move or stay here?

[windeity]

...[It'd be weird if he said he wanted to stay, so he pauses for a moment before sitting up and stretching.]

And miss out on whatever you are making? We can always come back here later.

[parodeity]

[ like dave would have cared. as it is he stays put until john moves, at which point dave moves his arm off of john's waist and rolls off the bed and onto his feet. ] I can always make shit whenever, too. This is a bff crisis alert though so you get to call the shots? You gave the bat signal, dude.

[windeity]

Does that make you Batman in this case? [He's up and on his feet, too, nudging Dave so they can head for the kitchen.]

Damn straight. [ once they're in the kitchen dave will start the process of making those apple tarts ignis made for the family dinner ages back. ] Commissioner?

[windeity]

Definitely. [He settles at the table to watch.] But Commissioner Egbert sounds kinda lame don't you think?

[parodeity]

You always sound a little lame. It's part of your charm. [ he doesn't mean much by it, teasing and deliberately poking fun at john. it's habit born from years of calling one another dumb shit and gently mocking. ]

[windeity]

Gee, thanks a lot. [But he's grinning since it's never a serious remark, ever. As it is he rests his chin on his arms to watch.] Would you still like me even if I was not pretty lame?

[parodeity]

I dunno. [ a flippant answer, a hint of a smile. ] It's kind of a charm point. Who else am I gonna tease about bad movies?

[windeity]

Jake? [He laughs though.] I think his taste might be even worse than mine because he likes everything. I wish we had movies here.

[parodeity]

Nah, Jake's like - we ain't at the teasing level yet and also he super doesn't notice when I do it. [ so he tried... ] Man, right though? Remember when we were kids? I think watching a movie together was like stop one on "what to do if we ever meet up".

[windeity]

We were definitely scheduled for movie marathons and a ton of junk food, and now we do not have either of those? So that sucks. Jake and I are still hoping maybe we can wish for them someday.

[A grin.] This hasn't been so bad though.

[parodeity]

I like livin' with you. [ he's said it before. it's the first thing to come to mind still as he puts aside the blade he'd used to dice apples. ] So yeah, it ain't bad. Even if entertainment is sometimes a crapshoot.

[windeity]

We just make our own entertainment and go from there. Living with you was the next logical step anyway. The original plan included the girls being nearby, but they are just very late.

[parodeity]

I forgot to mention I might be able to play some duets with you on a new instrument soon.

[windeity]

[He's busy watching Dave's hands.] What kind of new instrument?

[parodeity]

[ they're steady and shaping the pastry crust. he's quick about it like he is most things. ] Violin. Ignis is teaching me and lendin' me one.

[windeity]

Dude, that's awesome! We already know violin and piano sound great together, so it'll be fun to see what we create. [He's all smiles suddenly.] Where did Ignis even get a violin?

[parodeity]

Haven't the slightest. I'm not confident enough to play you somethin' yet, but maybe in a few weeks? [ he agreed to lessons because he likes music and violins make him think of rose and he'd wanted to make john smile, maybe. ] I have to find one of my own or figure out a trade for it eventually.

[windeity]

I can wait a few weeks. [He's just excited, alas.] We could probably figure out something or find one somewhere or wish for one or something. Maybe it'll be a quest reward at some point or something. But I want to hear it when you have it figured out, okay?

[parodeity]

Speakin' of wishes, did you ever make yours? Photos of your dad or something else? [ dave slides the tray into the oven and then leans against the counter, arms crossed as he eyes john. ]
