We just make our own entertainment and go from there. Living with you was the next logical step anyway. The original plan included the girls being nearby, but they are just very late.

I forgot to mention I might be able to play some duets with you on a new instrument soon.

[windeity]

[He's busy watching Dave's hands.] What kind of new instrument?

[parodeity]

[ they're steady and shaping the pastry crust. he's quick about it like he is most things. ] Violin. Ignis is teaching me and lendin' me one.

[windeity]

Dude, that's awesome! We already know violin and piano sound great together, so it'll be fun to see what we create. [He's all smiles suddenly.] Where did Ignis even get a violin?

[parodeity]

Haven't the slightest. I'm not confident enough to play you somethin' yet, but maybe in a few weeks? [ he agreed to lessons because he likes music and violins make him think of rose and he'd wanted to make john smile, maybe. ] I have to find one of my own or figure out a trade for it eventually.

[windeity]

I can wait a few weeks. [He's just excited, alas.] We could probably figure out something or find one somewhere or wish for one or something. Maybe it'll be a quest reward at some point or something. But I want to hear it when you have it figured out, okay?

[parodeity]

Speakin' of wishes, did you ever make yours? Photos of your dad or something else? [ dave slides the tray into the oven and then leans against the counter, arms crossed as he eyes john. ]

[windeity]

[He hesitates for a moment.] Oh. Um...not yet? I still think that is a really good wish, but I have not done it yet.

[parodeity]

Why not? [ he caught the hesitation. ]

[windeity]

No reason in particular. I just haven't? [And before Dave can say anything:] I am not lying, by the way. I just haven't yet. And anyway...maybe there's still a better wish.

[parodeity]

So you're worried about coming up with something better later? [ is what he got from that ]

[windeity]

Not necessarily better because I would be happy with pictures, but yeah I guess? I am worried about...wasting it isn't the word I want, because nothing about that would be a waste. But yeah, realizing I could wish for something bigger and less selfish.

[parodeity]

[ ...john gets an annoyed look. ] Dude, you deserve to be selfish. That's...like, you do.

[windeity]

Yes I know but I am still considering my options! That's all.

[parodeity]

Promise me you'll use the wish on yourself?

[ that's sudden. but. ]

[windeity]

[An unsure look follows.] Why does it have to be a promise? I will.

[parodeity]

...I dunno, I feel like you haven't been selfish enough lately. [ says...dave. ]

[windeity]

I haven't been selfish enough lately? [Hello pot, kettle here.]

[parodeity]

You absolutely haven't been. You've been way too focused on me.

[windeity]

[There's an exasperated noise.] What the hell have you been doing for literally most of our friendship then?

[parodeity]

Taking care of you. [ ... ] That's different.

[ IT'S NOT. ]

[windeity]

[A dead-eyed stare.]

Sure, okay. [IT'S DEFINITELY NOT.] Look. I appreciate you keeping me alive all the time and trying to protect me but sometimes I just need my best friend, not a babysitter. And right now I need my best friend to, like, kind of realize that this is pretty hypocritical considering.

[Dave sacrifices himself too much and John is going to lose his mind, news at 11.]

Maybe it is, but if I didn't you'd - [ he gestures, and it's meaningless. ] You just, you keep worrying more about me.

I still worry about myself, too. I take care of myself just fine. Why is it so bad to be worrying about you, too?
