[ john, what the fuck. that startles a laugh out of dave. the kind where he's not sure what to say, good or bad, sort of flustered. ]
You tell me, babe. [ because what do you actually say to that. ] You can carry the last few boxes lovingly over the boundary line and then we're set, I guess?
[Hes sleepy and headachey leave him alone?? He grins though and there's a little shrug.] Do I have to carry you over the threshold of our home too?
[He enters Viea Village, driving down the streets to their place. ] But yeah. I guess that is true.
[He pulls up to their house and into the driveway. He doesn't let go of Dave's hand, but if Dave looks out the window he'll notice there's definitely a small tree in the front yard now that wasn't there before.]
And prom night in some places. [But yeah, anyway. He just grins a little.]
Four years from now that should have fruit growing from it. [...he 100% planted an apple tree just like he said he would because John Egbert is an idiot.]
Well, we both skipped prom and this ain't a marriage, so it's up to you how much you wanna flout tradition. [ but he does untangle his hand from john's mostly to hook his finger in john's collar and pull him closer without. too much concern for things like john breathing because john will figure it the fuck out.
hi john. dave doesn't know what to say so kissing works, even if he's a little too feverish to really get into it. ]
[Kissing always works when it comes to John. He easily moves and kisses him back, pace even and careful while he scoots forward. Still, he brings a hand up to cup Dave's face and he frowns lightly into the kiss. His hand rubs Dave's cheek briefly before breaking the kiss. ]
[There's a nod and he lets Dave get out before he follows after him. He's immediately picking up his pace though to be at Dave's side and he's grabbing his hand again even if they're just going into the house. He's being extraordinarily clingy today, but it's a multitude of reasons he won't say as he pulls Dave into the house.]
[ dave is fine with holding hands over the threshold of the house. the question, though - really, he knows they need to do something, if only because john looks kind of terrible. ]
[Likewise he's not sure what to do with an exhausted Dave beyond make him comfortable and make him sleep. That makes sense, right? He felt a little warm under John's hand which is weird (and possibly his imagination, he's not sure) but he shuts the front door.]
...never mind, dumb qualifications. [ he can't decide if mentioning they clearly are not okay would be bad or not considering both of them prefer to pretend they're fine usually. ] May as well stay down here?
Okay. [He doesn't...know what he's talking about but he lets it slide. He leads Dave to the couch though and pulls him down, promptly shifting enough to allow Dave to lean into him.]
Movie? Silence? Pillow talk without the actual pillows?
Something lowkey to watch and just talking about how glad I am that the house is ready and I get to sleep in an even better bed with you tonight? Or whatever. I am not sure what pillow talk would include in this case. [He shifts a little to wrap an arm around Dave's waist to support him.]
I am not sure how great we would be at pillow talk even if we're both trying? Isn't that supposed to be like idk dreams and fears or honesty according to hollywood so you know real life never mirrors it.
Hollywood is always fake but...I don't know. We could definitely talk about those things. I don't think we ever do since we talk all the time anyway so it seems...dumb, maybe? Well not dumb but you know what I mean.

[ john isn't moving so dave doesn't either, although he's. definitely taking note of that particular change. ]
