Meteors are cool to see even given what they mean to the two of them, and he's not at all lost on the fact that Dave's quiet and calm. He doesn't mind. He's not going to tell him to go to sleep since Dave will be stubborn and refuse, but he's also preparing himself for that possibility.]

Do you think it's dumb to want to be up there with them someday? Like up close and personal.

Do I get to have Saturdays with you again? [Ah. He would leave it at that, but uh. They just had a conversation about answering questions with questions, so he tries again.] I don't know about keeping them exactly the same? I would like to do other things with you, too, but I like having the time to spend with just you. I know you're my best friend and we live together but it's kind of nice having a solid block of time to look forward to all the time.

What do you mean other things? [ wait. he just did the question thing. um. ] I mean, do you want to...alternate them, or split them up. Into...what we usually do, and different things?

I would like to do just our usual shit where we hang out and sometimes don't even leave the dorm, but I would also like to maybe do actual date things. There are a couple of things I think you'd like and some stuff I want to check out, too. It doesn't have to be scheduled like alternating but I know you like having schedules. [Shrug.] We can figure that part of it out later.

...We can just make Tuesdays date nights and Saturdays whatever the fuck.

[ he does like schedules. it isn't like they don't do things inbetween those two points anyway but look: schedules make sense of a chaotic timeline. they're comforting waypoints.

"whatever the fuck" could also include dates but he kind of likes the idea of something not a date and something a date. because best friend hangouts still need to Occur. ]

You do know today is Tuesday. [So like. He already kind of accidentally set a precedence for this. With Dave's head on his shoulder he moves a hand to smooth out his hair because he can.] But that sounds okay to me. And if we ever want to switch them or something that's fine, too. Right?

Technically today is Wednesday. [ because time travel. :)

But yeah, that's fine. I just want a non-date time still.

Okay well it was Tuesday before somebody cheated. [Which is nice since John's stupid and can't read the internet apparently. But Dave leans into his touch and he continues, mostly doing it to soothe him into relaxing while also watching the sky as a few more meteors zip by.]

We'll have plenty of non-date time, bro. That's kind of the cool part of dating your best friend, I think?

I mean, yes. But I like scheduled time with you, in case we both get really busy. Like with chores or whatever, or other people, or school.

Mmhm. [Yeah, he gets it. He's also turning just slightly to tentatively plant a kiss to Dave's head? Maybe continually exposure and practice will help ease his nerves.] Yeah, for some reason I like hanging out with you, too. And it's pretty helpful to be able to be like "hey I would love to do something but I can't leave my best buddy hanging" and have something better waiting for me.

But I also like when we hang out with other people together. Like Eren and Elliot or Yukiko and Eleanor or Rose or Natalie or whoever. It's...nice having real friends.

We can hang out with other people whenever you want? [ granted he likes just john time but he likes time with. lots of people? ] Elliot and I talked about maybe doing TGIF as a group regular, one of us is supposed to ask Eren.

it was probably nice. dave can't reach john's head so he just turns his own and briefly presses his lips to john's jaw again before giving up on watching the stars and resting his head on john's shoulder curved inward, eyes shut. not asleep, but. ]

That would be really cool. I like them. [He likes people, basically, and it's nice to have a friends group that deals with him being a whimsical fuck without questions.] As long as it is not a Tuesday or a Saturday everything else is negotiable.

[There's a slight grin when Dave's mouth touches his jaw and he lets him curl up instead. John can watch stars, it's fine.]

Comfortable? [It's with a touch of amusement, but he's also already accepting he might just have to stay here for a while.]

Mhmm. [ just don't ask him when he last actually slept chronologically in any significant amount. ] I missed you. It's too cold to argue again until spring occurs.

[He's shifting the blanket they're under so it's covering more of Dave's side and back and then letting his hand play with his hair.] Yeah, I think I can agree with that, though I should have known you're really only in it to leech my body heat.

[...but...] I missed you, too. Weird to think how you can be so far away from someone when they're right there.

Yes. That is the only reason I wanted to date you. If you stop bein' warm we're immediately over, obviously, because there are no other reasons at all.

Don't let me fall asleep long if I do. Have to flip us back.

If I stop being warm immediately that means I am obviously a ghost and then we have even bigger problems. [There's a sigh.] It's fine. We can flip back whenever, can't we?

S'long as it's in my window and people don't come around and interact after interactin' with the other us...no, I don't know...?

[ murmured. look. being in an unfinished loop isn't relaxing, is all. ]

We're totally alone out here. It's okay. [He made sure of that.] We can stay for a little while longer and then we can jump back and go home, okay? I want to see more of the meteors. [And also he's comfortable.]
