Yeah. [ john's warm and smells nice so yes. ] ...come to bed with me? [ it's unclear if that's meant to be his favor or not. probably not. and he means "i'm a little tired" which of course means he's mostly exhausted. ]

[Yeah...Dave never asks, so John tunes in almost immediately to what's being said and he nods in response.]

Sure. Want to walk back on your own? [Or, given he's already sprawled on John's back anyway, he'll carry him downstairs to their dorm.]

Nope. [ mostly bc he doesn't want to let go...idiocy. but it's also not like he thinks john will have any trouble carrying him. ] Can my favor be a turnaround of the thing that one time?

[ who the fuck would be able to decipher that. ]

[The hand reaches up to pet Dave's hair, not bothering to lower himself or anything for Dave to boost up onto John's back. Dave's taller, he can figure it out.]

[There's an understanding noise.] Got it. Well...I don't know if I will be as good with my hands as you are, but I will do my best when we get to the room, okay? [With Dave on his back though he grabs his legs to hold him up and begins to descend from the roof.]

I have this paper due already because teachers are sadists and spent most of the day in the library. [ bent over books. ] Also I imagine you're better with 'em but maybe you will suck just to prove me wrong.

We'll find out. If my hands don't do it I know a few other ideas we can try. Why didn't you just take a break when your neck started to hurt?

Because I wanted to finish it so I had the weekend free for you? [ this is a dumb reason. ]

...[There's a mumble that sounds a lot like "why are you like this" but his hand just kind of pats Dave's leg since that's a cute and somewhat flattering answer.]

I wouldn't have minded if you needed to do homework. I would still get to spend time with you, so. [But he's pleased anyway. He shifts his balance a little so he can grab his key and unlock the door to their room, carrying Dave inside to deposit him on the bed. The cat's in her cat tree and she trills curiously when her dads show up, but John's primary focus is on Dave.]

I'm going to change and then I'll be right there, okay?

Mmhm. I should too. [ he's not so out of it he can't, and he starts working off his shoes first as mewpac assists by winding around his legs. ] Yes, hi beautiful, I missed you too.

[He's already kicking off his shoes and stripping out of his shirt to change into a sleepshirt instead.] You spoil her so much. She's going to get a big head and everything.

[ john once accused dave of staring at his arms months ago and dave hadn't back then but his gaze does skate over john now before he rolls off his socks and then stands to put things away and change. thank god for shades. ] She deserves it. Most kids do?

I never said she did not deserve it. [Dave will get a good view of his pretty ripped arms then, basically.] I agree with that, actually, but it does explain why even after all this time she prefers you to me. You know she's going to sit on you while I work on your neck.

[ cool he was also looking at john's chest. fuck off and kill him. ] She just prefers me because I have good taste?

[ he's quicker and more efficient about changing, which is just into pajama pants and an older long-sleeved shirt. ]

Careful, or I'll think you're jealous I'm callin' the cat beautiful. [ 100% joking. ]

[To be fair his chest is probably pretty well-built, too. Good to know Dave's into built boys. Still, he slides into sweatpants after the t-shirt goes back on and he shakes his head.]

Yes, I am absolutely jealous of the cat. [But he's crawling up onto the bed and spreading his legs a little with the intention of Dave sitting between them with his back to John's chest.]

[ he's into john egbert, it's a problem. also he has no idea what the intention here is so he just flops onto the bed. ]

[He reaches forward and uses his thumb and index and middle finger to pinch at his neck a little and massage the back of it.]

Thanks. Sit up? I mean I guess I could do it while you're laying like that but it's probably easier if you're sitting in front of me.

I guess, unless you sat on me. [ but he's obliging enough to actually move and sit how john wanted him to in the first place, so. ]

I could sit on you if you want but I am pretty sure that would just wreck your spine a little. [Dave's in front of him and John's hands move. They're warm at least and he starts with his hands on Dave's shoulders, thumbs working into the skin at the base of Dave's neck in a slow and steady manner.]

[ naturally dave slouches because he has terrible posture which probably did not help while he was in the library. he shivers at the warmth but stays still. ]

Eh. It's been wrecked since I was a kid.

[His hands are steady at least, firm and maybe it was dumb to say he wasn't good with his hands as he works over a few kinks in Dave's neck to loosen knots.]

Maybe consider not wrecking yourself from now on?

[ he's still pretty still but there's a soft sigh. ]

["What about if I'm not there in time to fix it?" It's a thought, but he doesn't express it. Not now. It's not time to talk about those things so instead he's still moving his hands even while pressing his lips to the back of Dave's neck.]

I guess you have a point. But my point still stands?

[ stop kissing his neck? there's a shiver but dave doesn't pull away or turn. ]

I'll do my best to not wreck my spine. Maybe. I'm not convinced it isn't worth it.
