dave runs his left hand over his own lips, fingertips pressing down for a second, before he shrugs. ]

Then after we wrap it with her, we have the whole night to do whatever.

It's going to look weird if I am wearing a collared shirt in the dorm. Maybe I'll just pull up my t-shirt or something. [But he sighs to himself even when he moves to hug him again.]

I do not have a strong preference what we do after Nat leaves. I just want to be by ourselves. Okay?

I mean, it's high enough off you'll have to do collars or scarfs or just say "fuck it".

Why is that a maybe? [He's up and Dave stretches while he moves to grab a new shirt. A soft t-shirt nearly identical to what he was wearing before they showered and cleaned up.

Because I'm never sure until I do things if you'll like them? [ he's just PRETTY sure. he like.

watches john put on his shirt and it's obvious until he goes to slide his shades back on. ]

In all honesty most things that you do and think I will like are things I will like? And I will always like presents from you no matter what they are. [The shirt gets adjusted just a little to cover the bite marks and he moves for the bed.] So yes.

[ natalie isn't here quite yet (he'll have to get up and go let her in within the next few minutes, probably) so dave trails after and sits next to john and doesn't try to do anything more than lean into him. the shower heat is fading. ] I could get you a crappy present, you don't know.

[An arm loops around Dave's shoulders to pull him to his side until they have to get the door for Natalie.] Even if it was a crappy present I would still like it, dummy. It'd be from you. That's the important part.

[ sigh. ] Has anyone ever told you that you're pretty damn sappy? Like enough that if I cut open your veins I'd expect maple syrup. [ but it's affectionately said, and he drapes his arms around john's waist and leans into him, so. ]

That's not always a good thing, or so I've been told. [But he settles for holding him until they have to move.] But on the other hand I would always be prepared for pancakes, so I guess there is a bright side.

I think it's fairly obvious at this point that your ex and I have different taste in dudes. Or like, in what we want from them. [ he just assumes that's who john is referencing, but whatever. ] Also, gross? I'm not sure I'd want to eat pancakes with your blood, even if it was maple syrup. I mean. Hm.

Yeah well. [Nothing to say because yes, that's what he's referencing.] And aren't you the one who said you'd eat my skeleton even before we were dating? I mean that was a weird conversation but still.

Hm? I guess it was. [ NO IT LIKE...REALLY WAS........... ] It wasn't about being a martian really, though.

There's...a way I never want you to look at me, I guess. It was about that, and about wanting you in ways I didn't have you yet. [ he elaborates: ] Not like this. I mean, like. My best friend. I still missed you back then.

I guess that makes sense. Everything back then I think was a little weird for both of us for a few reasons. Back then, I think I was just starting to think of things differently so I am pretty sure I was not helping the case.

You mean, like, thinkin' of me as your best friend? [ that's super fair. ] Sometimes I think about who I was last February and it feels like it was a decade ago. Or an entire lifetime? So. I get it and I got it, but I miss people sometimes anyway.
