Doomed to miss prom always. [ but he doesn’t sound like he cares? at least this time he isn’t speeding up the dance on john. ]

Prom's probably overrated anyway. [The current song ends and John seems to be listening for something as the beginning piano notes play and he switches the dance style again. Granted, instead of Michael Buble's voice it's John's playing over the speakers and he's Blatantly Aware this is cheesy as fuck and he's half-expecting Dave to call him on it, but oh well. Christmas.]

[IT COUNTS!! But there's a full-on grin because he's not remotely surprised.]

I kind of figured. It's in one of your gift bags somewhere. [Apparently he's fine admitting that.] Presents tomorrow morning.

...truth be told, half the time I forgot about the bet. This was all just stuff I wanted to do? Which is probably a lot, I know, and it's dumb and kind of a lot but things kind of got out of hand and I got carried away.

[A shrug.] Cheesy but honest, remember? Stopped traffic and love letters and a best friend I get to keep with me all the time. [He doesn't stop dancing but he turns his face back to look him in the eyes.] Stuff like that. It's important to me even if I am still learning how it all goes to get it right.

[ john gets one of those quiet stares for a minute or two before dave leans in and we get to see if john can keep dancing when dave kisses him because that’s happening. ]

doesn't immediately stumble or knock them over but he does kind of pause in place to kiss back? So there's that, he's still keeping them moving at a slower pace even while he kisses him and that's pretty much all John's focused on now.]

[ dave keeps it on the briefer side, although they’ve never really Made Out more than briefly so that is possibly not shocking. ]

[ unlike john, dave doesn’t have to slow his movements to kiss back. ] Wanting to get used to it was never remotely going to be an issue. [ hm. he actually smiles, amused. ] For some reason I adore you, so.

[See why can't he have a picture of that? Why is Dave like this and why is John stupid about him? But instead he visibly perks up anyway.]

Yeah, what's up with that? [A teasing smile.] I am amazed by that pretty much all the time.

[ because smiles are fleeting and dave does them only when cameras aren't around apparently. ]

Maybe a little less than me. [ and the smile is gone but he still seems relaxed so there is that? whatever he frowned about earlier is not a major concern, apparently, or isn't time-sensitive. ] But I forgive you.

Thanks for that. [A grin.] ...there's only a few more tracks on the playlist. I wasn't sure how long to make it for, so after that we can start again if you'd like or head back for the night.

Okay, well, if we're quoting Swedish bands then I guess we can go dancing, we can go walking, as long as we're together. [He raises his eyebrows and tries to to think of what else is on the actual playlist.]

and now he starts speeding up the dancing, although he does it gradually to see if he can get them spinning around the room before john notices. this is harder when john is leading but hey. ]

[He keeps up, feet moving along as the song picks up its tempo and he doesn't even notice what Dave's doing.]

The fact that you even got that reference is part of the reason I like you so much. [A grin.] You make me really happy, you know that?
