[ rose and john wouldn't knock in that hesitant way and john might not even be up yet. no one on the meteor would knock like that, but there's dozens of people here now dave doesn't know well yet and so the person on the other side of the door has to be one of them. he eases it open slightly and peers out, registering dirk and then blanking on why he's registering dirk. ]
...what's up - oh. [ he made some sort of promise about lessons in mornings. right. it's harder to stick to his usual sense of punctuality when his innate sense of time just isn't working. ] Hang on.
[ he shuts the door again. after two or three minutes he'll step back out and shut the door behind him, having retrieved his sword and a haphazardly drawn bag. it's a somewhat tropical island but he's still in jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. ]
We might have to keep it shortish? I want to check on John in a bit, see if he's feelin' any better. [ realizing dirk might not have seen john since they met up much earlier: ] He got sick. Rose and I wrote his will and made funeral arrangements, but also one or both of us should keep tabs until he's once again unbearably peppy and not sick. Apparently eatin' the crab is a dumbfuck idea, by the way.
[Dirk, for his part, has dressed in the outfit that Dave made for him yesterday. The stitches are gone; instead, the slash is missing, like it was never there. He was practicing last night so he could do this.]
Casket, cremation, or is he into that weird family tradition of stuffed corpses?
[Important question.]
You can skip it if you need to. John's well-being naturally comes ahead of using cones in drawing.
[ it's fairly impossible to tell if dave looks or doesn't, behind his shades. his jeans are the same but the shirt is different, a casual band tee instead. ]
That's Jade's family, not John's. His does cremation and urns. And if he wakes up and needs me straight off, he'll, you know.
[ gestures towards the metal inset. ]
John doesn't much go in for sufferin' illness in silence so far as I'm aware. He basically sprawled across both of us the second he felt sick. [ which dave is pretty sure is the opposite of what he and rose would do; they both tend to pretend they're fine if they aren't. ]
[John leaves Dave to his training with Dirk and decides that he should maybe get up. Breakfast with his best friends was a good idea even if he wasn't certain he was up to the whole eating part of breakfast, but it meant more time with Dave and Rose and that was always acceptable.
Not long after, he finds himself taking the blanket off of his bed and wrapping it around himself like a cape, carrying it out of his hut and over to the next one where Rose resides. A quick message to Dave of "hey, we are at rose's" goes out before he knocks once and lets himself into Rose's place.
Dad Egbert raised him with some manners, so he at least toes off his shoes at the door before shuffling in and settling in a blanket-pile near Rose's bed. On the floor, he's using the bed to prop him up even as he bundles up again and gives her a slight grin, a brief explanation of "Dave's bringing breakfast and we're figuring stuff out" before he lets his eyes droop shut again.
Rose, apparently, can carry on her morning the way that she had while John mid-morning naps. All they have to do now is wait for Dave.]
[ post awkward training session dave does indeed head to rose's. he has one big bowl of oatmeal and smaller bowls and spoons to dole it out into, and when he comes in he glances around before taking a seat on the floor by rose's bed.
he's in jeans and a long-sleeved shirt and his shades, and he looks no worse for the wear. ]
Everyone ready for some quality oatmeal? I've never actually had oatmeal. Poptarts were so much more temptin'.
[ when john appears at her door, she lets him in to blanket nest without question. he can even nest on the bed if he wants though it's. definitely not been made up. rose lalonde is a slob let's not lie. she probably had dave draw her a decent sundress or something, also. because running around in their godtier pajamas feels a little stupid when their godtier powers are caput.
but she will go back to her knitting of whatever until dave arrives. ]
Define "quality". Is this the Strider Art Special?
[ and yet there's no delay at all in the response, so dave either wasn't sleeping or...woke up? (he wasn't sleeping) ]
yeah we only really explored a small portion of the island theres still a heck of a lot left to look into its actually pretty big for a hunk of rock floating through space why are you thinking about that right now though
it makes you wonder what planet it broke off of and how big that one is, doesn't it? i hope maybe we get to see it soon. that would be pretty cool. but today helped. i am just thinking about it, that's all. i want to know what is really around. i want to understand stuff.
[ it already can't be rose or john. dave knows rose's knock and john wouldn't bother or would mentally knock on the door. the voice cinches it, though.
there's a pause before he opens the door, although he does open it enough to lean on the door frame, looking out but blocking the inside with his body. ]
you should maybe say where you didnt really indicate where you were fucking off to and i have yet to manifest a john egbert gps despite my best efforts unlike jade your nerdy musk just doesnt work as a homing device for me
it is not my fault your skills at tracking me by scent are not on par with jade's. also i think telepathy counts as a gps now? whatever, anyway. up. that is where i mean.
( Victor haaaaaaas more heard about Dave through Yuuri but that's Legit. )
Dave? This is Victor. I had a question related to harnesses and apparently scuba gear Minato was directing me to ask you. Secondarily, what kind of barter system are you working with for yourself and what you draw?
Hey, man. I'm not sure I've actually put myself on a barter system yet? But if you go to the movies with me once I'll draw you whatever. They don't let people go to movies here solo?? It's complete bullshit???

Mrs Strider, can Dave come out to play today?
[It's a dumb joke. It is such a dumb joke. He hates himself for making that joke right after it comes out of his mouth. Why is he like this. GOD.]
