Dave reacts openly to John playing with his nipples and John reacts to fingernails over his side given there's a surprised, low groan against Dave's mouth and a sharp twitch of a shiver. So that's a thing. It's not a bad reaction given he's not pushing Dave away but he does shift his legs enough to wind and trap Dave from moving away from him.]

[ thankfully dave had zero intention of moving away. mostly. he pulls away from kissing john long enough to drag his other hand down john's side, fingernails catching and gaze too intent, pupils blown wide and focused entirely on his boyfriend. ]

[Why!! It's the combination of Dave's hands and also his stupid eyes that's getting to him and he's trying to catch his breath a little while squirming under Dave's hands.]

Yeah. [ he admits if without even thinking about it, letting his fingers dig into john's hip. ] But you like it when I do.

[ there's faint amusement at the corners of dave's mouth, his eyes going soft and half lidded in the prelude to a smile. it's a comfortable expression and he feels comfortable with john. there are months of the casual domestic intimacy, quiet and safe and warm, backed by years of remembered friendship. this kind of moment has existed before too but dave hasn't always been the best at dealing with it. he'd dumped john off his lap the one time john had rolled his hips and he'd stopped john pulling off his shirt and he'd drawn lines where he needed them. ] I like you like this.

[ fingers trace up to john's face. no glasses. ]

[He hates it, thanks. And by hate it I mean that Dave shadeless is probably just as much of a turn-on as Dave shirtless, so he's a little dazed and lovedrunk and focused on staring right back.]

[ he shifts, though, a sort of demonstration, but john has his legs tangled and dave has never won a wrestling match against his boyfriend for more reasons than distraction. if john wants him pinned, john can pin dave above or under him because he's stronger. and dave doesn't mind enough to cheat with time travel.

dave bites his lip and experimentally does what john did back in february: he rolls his hips down into john's and doesn't flip out. ] Or maybe I can a little bit.

[There's a sound that can only be described as approval caught somewhere in his throat as his hands loop over Dave's lower back to pull him closer.]

I think you can and I am pretty sure I would let you. [He pauses for a second.] ...do that again?

Why'm I doin' all the work? [ he's well aware it's because john got to this point two months in and dave took about eight and john’s probably being cautious about his boundaries.

dave complies anyway, breath hitching imperceptibly to anyone other than the heir of breath as he rolls his hips again. ]

[Yessss. It's progress and it's hot, personally, given that John's head presses back into the mattress and there's a smirk as he notices the change in breathing.]

Because...appreciation. [It's fine though because he lifts up just slightly to press into him.]

Appreciate me back, asshole. I deserve to be treated like a princess. [ he likes the smirk. more than he should, maybe, and dave kisses john for it before trailing kisses to his boyfriend's neck because he kind of wants to leave a mark. ]

Mm...I am, I am...be patient. [His fingers are carefully digging into Dave's back just enough to leave little scratches but not enough to hurt as Dave kisses his neck.] I appreciate everything about you even if you do not believe me. And I will treat you like the best princess if you want.

[His hips are still for now, but he shifts enough to grind against him in a brief movement.]

[ dave doesn't quite make a sound when john's nails dig into his back but he arches into the touch and his heartbeat stutters, his breathing going a hair heavier. he does make a sound when john grinds against him for a brief moment, though, soft and plaintive in his throat.

he lets himself use his teeth on john's previously unmarked neck before his tongue and lips and teeth find their way to john's ear instead. dave's certain if he tries to speak above a whisper he'll shatter. ]

How can I be patient when you're like this? John, c'mon.

[The smirk grows wider because as far as he's concerned that's a positive noise. He tilts his head to give Dave room for his teeth to latch onto him, a mumble under his breath even as Dave moves upward to his ear. His fingers curl in harder over Dave's shoulder blade when he speaks but he turns his head just enough to reply in the same tone.]

Good point. [There's a beat.] ...I want to touch you.

[ he shivers. dave doesn't bother to pretend he doesn't, some combination of john's voice and his fingers at dave's shoulder blade. ]

Please. [ immediate and he doesn't even know how or what john means, but yeah, okay, everything that's currently happening is good in his book and he'd like it to continue. ] Please do. [ he presses a kiss to john's jaw, hands running down john's sides again. ]

[John's not entirely sure himself, but. It's fine? It's fine. He's letting his free hand not at Dave's shoulder trace down the curve of his back and to his waist, fingers dancing across his hip and to his stomach toward the button of Dave's jeans instead.

He doesn't go much further than that, but he looks at him instead.]

You're not going to freak out? [So yeah. It's definitely a boundaries thing.]

[ he wants to immediately answer, but dave's the one who's always saying he'd rather they both be sure about any step forward, always. he's stopped john before because of it, multiple times.

so he's quiet, and he actually thinks about it, hands and lips still as he asks himself the question seriously. is he going to freak out? he actually hadn't really considered removing anything further for this, but is he okay with his not-really-a-plan going off the rails?

john's eyes are stupid blue and his hands are warm and dave nods, only then he makes a face when he realizes a "yes" isn't that clear because it could be taken as yes i'm going to freak out or no i'm not going to freak out. ]

You've still got a green light, John. I'll stop you if I have to, but I'm not gonna freak. [ so, a yes with a condition, but he figures that actually the "i'll stop you if it gets not okay" is maybe more comforting than a flat yes. ] How about you?

[It is. That's definitely a lot nicer than just saying yes and wondering if Dave's saying yes because John wants him to. As it is he's contemplating the question himself. He's not going to freak out, he thinks. It's still new and it's still something that sticks out as the first time he's bothered really doing anything intimate with a guy but it's less that and more wanting to make sure it's not awkward or weird. They already went over that.

There's something to be said about anticipation and wanting though and it doesn't hurt that Dave's still on top of him and he's still very aware how much he loves the dumbass. It's been eight months and maybe it's excruciatingly slow in comparison to past relationships but he doesn't mind. A hand comes up to brush Dave's hair out of his face.]

Yeah. I'm not gonna freak and I think it's still something we can try. Okay? [He's already fiddling with the button again, but he's not making any further movements.]

I'm not objectin'. [ there's a quiet laugh as dave's fingers start tapping out showtime. he's maybe nervous even if he's not unfamiliar with how things with other guys go. this is john and john is different. it matters more, maybe, than anything dave did in high school.

his eyes are locked on john, warm and focused. ]

I love you. [ it feels like a good time to say that just before he gives john an eskimo kiss because that's obviously sexy and not ridiculous - nah, he's just trying to make john laugh. ]

[It's sweet, but also it works given he promptly starts laughing and his arm around Dave's back and waist tightens its grip, fingers following the pattern of the song.]

Love you too, weirdo. [But there's a peck, followed by a second and a third.] An insane amount. In case that wasn't clear.

[ dave chases john's lips after he pecks him, one hand coming up to cradle john's jaw gently as dave seeks a longer sort of kiss. it's slow and sweet still instead of anything faster, before he pulls back and just looks at john again, licking his lips nervously. ]

Touch me. [ he's done this a few times before, ever since they'd messed around one day after they started dating and dave had noticed john kind of liked being ordered around. they'd talked about it once or twice, how john liked it when dave asked for shit and so dave's words are a quiet demand shaped out of as much steel as he can muster.

the order comes with the hand at john's jaw tracing down his neck and over his shoulder gently. ]

[To literally no one's surprise, it's still hot when he does that. It's still something that gets him going and something John truly loves even if he acknowledges maybe it's a little weird. He loves when Dave's confident enough to demand things from him, and like, yeah, his last relationship involved kind of being bossed around by a girl so it works out.

It's also just nice to hear it so that John has full permission to move forward. He leans into Dave's hand briefly before he nods, fingers working open both button and fly of Dave's jeans.

...in theory, he supposes he could just grab his dick and start going at it, but that seems like a bad and a stupid idea. Instead, he pushes aside fabric and slithers his hand between jeans and boxers to just trace over hip bones and down to the top of his thighs, fingers just barely ghosting over him through the thin fabric.

Maybe teasing him isn't a great idea, but John's curious what kind of reaction he's going to get here.]
