I know you don't want to revisit some of the past ones, but I guess...let me know if you do, or whatever. Um. Was there anything else for your list, or is that it?
[ hey he insisted on working through the list like 3 times that is as much of a miracle as can be asked for on a given day. also he tried to address fixing other things but then decided to drop it later. ]
Are we sure you don't have eating-things problems?
Um. Sure? I don't know why you have yours, but - sure.
[ dirk didn't want peace offerings but dave almost relaxes a little at what he perceives as one because he'll always take the tiny things when he can get them. ]
I don't know if I can give you an accurate assessment as to why I'm not especially gifted at it from a psychological perspective. From the perspective of praxis, it's easy for me to forget.
[Dirk can agree to that. He is definitely not going to forget Dave's eating needs, no matter how obsessed with work he gets. So he'll have to eat too.]
[ distracted look down he like. barely was paying attention to that, despite how ridiculous it got. dave goes to stand up looking up instead. there's an ocean surface somewhere up there. his hands go in his pockets like they always do when he's not sure what to do with them. ]
[Dirk watches him stand (he genuinely was not sure, he thought Dave might want the sand? they are both dumb) and then, after a bit, stands with him.]
I think so. We possibly aren't okay right now. There are problems here we haven't addressed, or addressed how to work on. But... we love each other, and we want to make our relationship work. We're starting that process, and we want to fix and improve anything that got broken. Right?

I can do that if you want me to? If that isn't bad.
no subject
[ this is stupider than the food thing. fuck. ]

[They are both stupider than the food thing.]

[ dave's gaze drops back to the sand. ]
So I...guess that's it?
no subject
[Dirk can't tell. A pause.]
And worrying about you, especially your well-being, isn't on the list. Yes?
[dirk he literally cleared that for part of one of the things they need to work on]
no subject
There's nothin' else.
[ SO MOVING STRAIGHT ALONG as he finally sort of erases his designs. ]
That's only ever been weird as fuck, it hasn't been...emotionally traumatizin'.
no subject
[yes, just look at his bedroom]
no subject
[ dave draws his hands back into his lap. ]
I don't have anythin' else we can talk about.
no subject
[It somehow feels off, but he doesn't know how or why. Maybe it's seeing Dave like this.]
We can stop it for now, and come back to it if you can talk about something, or if I think of a thing. Fair?
no subject
[ a shrug. he's mostly caught up in thinking about the things he's permanently screwed up that can't be fixed.
it's not a particularly productive endeavor, so he picks a new one. ]
So what have you actually eaten today, did we, like, establish that.
no subject
I had an orange when I woke up.
[So that's not nothing!]
no subject
Are we sure you don't have eating-things problems?
no subject
[Therefore he wins.]
no subject
[ a shrug. ]
Let's wake up and case closed the awkward portion of the day.
no subject
[It would be fair. The trees fade away as Dirk gets ready to wake up.]
no subject
Um. Sure? I don't know why you have yours, but - sure.
[ dirk didn't want peace offerings but dave almost relaxes a little at what he perceives as one because he'll always take the tiny things when he can get them. ]
no subject
[So easy.]
no subject
[ right? ]
You never forget about me eatin' stuff.
no subject
[Dirk can agree to that. He is definitely not going to forget Dave's eating needs, no matter how obsessed with work he gets. So he'll have to eat too.]
no subject
[ when they were eating mostly breakfast and dinner every day together, dave didn't skip. eating with the family meant he ate. ]
Dirk - [ another pause. what. does he want to ask? dave isn't actually sure. ]
no subject
Do you want to imagine more sand?
[So Dave can, like. Doodle. Until he is able to say it.]
no subject
[ distracted look down he like. barely was paying attention to that, despite how ridiculous it got. dave goes to stand up looking up instead. there's an ocean surface somewhere up there. his hands go in his pockets like they always do when he's not sure what to do with them. ]
Are...we okay? Or...will we be?
no subject

no subject
So...you do want to fix what was broken, and you don't hate me.
[ just, you know, for confirmation. ]
no subject
Yes. And... you feel the same way. [A little lift, extending the 'y' past the end of the sentence with a questioning raise. Yes?]
