Unless you figure out a way around it, I still very much need to breathe. [ he put it off, but. dave runs a hand through his hair and nods, undoing his seatbelt and then popping the door. ] What are we painting, anyway?

Breath transfer maybe...[But they can do that later. He's out of the car and walking around to Dave's side.] We are painting whatever you want. We can either make our own, or we can pick some of the premade stuff and paint them.

[A beat.] They have dinosaurs.

Making up for when Nat banned me?

Oh absolutely. Plus it's really cool? They have a bunch of different things plus they do canvas painting classes like once a week. I checked it out the other day.

Are you plannin' to take up painting? [ that's cute. it makes him think of yusuke a little, and minato. they both paint. ] If you do we can hang stuff up around wherever we end up.

[There's a light laugh.] I don't know. Maybe not seriously or anything, I'm not an artist. But it's really nice and calming? Kind of like a coloring book with more tools available. I took a painting class for an art credit in high school and it was not that terrible.

Besides, I figure it is better to try the things I want to try at least once while I'm here instead of ignoring them.

You know, you're probably the exact market for adult coloring books - not like sex coloring books though I assume those exist but like the ones with the really intense patterns? You might like them anyway...so what are you painting if not a dinosaur? [ dave is heading in and fuck yeah he will do a dinosaur mug because duh ]

Sure. [He follows and he even opens the door, greeting the cashier before he gestures to the walls upon walls of ceramic bullshit they can paint.] Also shut up? I like those coloring books.

[He probably has one because yes he's definitely the exact market for them.] They're good for stress relief. And I don't know. Maybe a bowl for the cat, or maybe something for the future apartment.

A bowl for keys or wallets or whatever? They have those in movies sometimes. Or like a toothbrush holder. I don't know why that's the first thing that comes to mind when I think house.

We had a bowl for keys at home because Dad and I used to always misplace them otherwise. Drove Nanna crazy. That doesn't sound like a bad idea.

I don't usually lose things...? I mean, sometimes I lose track of shit on my desk, but I always know it is there.

I used to be pretty bad about it when I was a kid but I have figured out how to be more organized lately. [With that, he moves to grab a bowl to paint before gesturing to...dinosaurs. Go nuts.]

dave opts for the second mostly because the t-rex looks like it's trying to eat the toothbrushes. or would if they were in there. which is hilarious. ]

Out of necessity?

Kind of, yeah. [A smirk because yeah, that is actually hilarious. Good job, Dave. He's grabbing paints and brushes, too, before heading to a bench and motioning for Dave to follow so they can paint at a table in their fancy suits.]

Necessity, slowly becoming less of a mess as a person, and constantly sharing my living space with someone else.

I don't know if I would call them homemaker...but thanks for putting up with them.

I still don't like makin' beds but it's kind of nice to have a constantly made bed?

My dad got me in the habit really early on and I guess I never outgrew it. Kind of like doing my dishes.

dave's dinosaur is apparently going to have FLAMES on it. that's not a normal dinosaur pattern. ]

[Oh my god save the dinosaur. John meanwhile is drawing...a bunch of lines? Whatever.]

You mean besides being grateful I have the chance to shower every day? [A grin.] I have some projects I'm working on for one of my classes. I am thinking about texting Yukiko to see her later this week to catch up. I'm behind in one of my gen ed courses but that's not unusual. And...I don't know. I'm happy.

I haven't heard from her in a while, that could be pretty fun? [ for john, he means. but it's nice, he thinks, that john is happy. dave feels happy, too, even if it's twisted with flickering guilt for the emotion existing when it maybe shouldn't.

he can still smile, though, crooked as he coats his brush in purple. ] I think I want to call up Chiyo again sometime. We went out earlier this month but like, there's never too much Chiyo time.

Yeah! There are a few people I need to catch up with still. I saw Anya the other day, and I told Chiyo that since the sun's back we should do a group picnic soon. I think it'd be good for you to see her one on one again though. [Lines, lines, lines. It's black straight lines like bars for sheet music.]

I thought about texting Ayano, too, but. [Shrug.] And I have a few other people I want to check on.
