[ dave is twisting the scarf around his neck, and hauling part of it up over his mouth to his nose, as he shoves his hands into his pockets. he's weak to cold, spare him. ]
That has nothing to do with not knowing how to use my sylladex and also, shut up, I can track most of my shit just fine. Like eighty percent of it. [Down to the car they go and he won't even comment on Dave being a huge baby. He'll just get in and punch open the passenger door.] Better than most odds.
[He makes a face and settles in the driver seat, setting up his phone on the dash so he can see where he's going. Why he didn't do this before instead of making Dave do it we just don't know.]
But then you'll have to open your own door? The terror.
Only if you want me to laugh a lot, or whenever I have an actual crown on my head. Shit. That's what I should have done for Halloween. [Alas.] I have a half-put-together mix but go ahead and DJ if you've got something in mind.
No, as a king. But why don't I get a crown? That seems like the opposite of an Heir. [But once they are at a stop light, he'll flick through his phone to a Spotify playlist and hits play.]
That is a good point. I kind of like the godtier outfits. Or at least what I can remember. They seemed really comfortable and I am definitely glad for pants. I have questions, but I will skip them.
[He grins though before he moves to turn the volume up a little louder, driving them across the city toward this haunted house. Other songs that pop up are the classics like Thriller, Zombie by the Cranberries, etc. Either way, they arrive not long after that and John parks the car in front of a large, looming house obviously set up for Halloween.] Check it out.
I would ask "why not" but I am pretty sure I know the answer. [Let's head to the haunted house, Dave.] Also are you hoping to blind the monsters in the house with the flash or what?
Huh. Okay, whatever. [A grin. He'll lead them up to the front door and pay the coverage charge since it's one of those haunted houses with like actors and rooms to walk through and stuff. They can go to an abandoned house another day.] I think they probably will? You see pictures online all the time of people reacting to jumpscares in haunted houses.
[ john why are you like this and just letting him do whatever?? dave is following along, and for once doesn't put up a fuss about john paying. he is maybe trying to stick to that talk they had about actually splitting costs or trading off evenly. ]
Yeah, but you ain't really the jumpscare type, are you?
Not really. I have been doing haunted houses and mazes and stuff since I was a kid and they are always just fun for me. But I think that is because I like horror movies and stuff. [And into the house they go...it's a dark narrow hallway first, but John seems to be able to see where he's going.]
[ dave's literally in shades, although he has his camera around his neck and is idly fiddling with settings. he doesn't seem bothered by the dark, though. ]
You like most genres of movie, dude, don't you? Like, which ones are you opposed to?
[Somewhere in the distance there's low growling noises but haha whatever.]
You could say that. I am not big on, like, war movies because they can be kind of boring without a lot of action or like straight-up romance movies. Otherwise yeah I am open to everything.

[ CALMLY - another thing he never mentioned, although after singing along to some songs and hitting the house, dave's eyebrows raise. ]
Sweet. Do you think they allow flash photography?
