Of course I do but that's not going to help us. [They approach the pile of stones and the wolf woofs, nudging a rock with his nose and giving the two of them an expectant look. It appears to be stones piled high on a grave, but John's giving it a once-over.]

...think we're supposed to move everything?

[An eyeroll.] You could pretend to help? You have superspeed here, not me. [But he's already starting to move one of the stones, and as he does so a loud, flat musical note plays from somewhere. Like a tuba.]

Oh, ew. Someone needs to work on their musical skills. [ THAT WAS FLAT. ]

[He also looks marginally offended and he puts the rock down. Give him a moment to stare at the pile before he begins to pull out another one. There's another flat, angry brassy-sound before John shoves the stone back in place. He moves over to the right, pulling on another stone and eliciting a clear trumpet note.]

Huh. Maybe we have to play the musical rocks to get them out? [ this is such a kiddy quest, he thinks, but he doesn't mind. ]

[Is it? Because John's already annoyed and he's probably going to have a harder time with this just because of a lack of patience.] Can't we just knock the whole thing over and get it over with?

[The answer's no, but it's tempting.]

[ dave rolls his eyes and moves john aside, going to tug on the clear-trumpet rock again. so that's note one - so...

he pulls another rock and repeats the process until he finds another clear note. score!

[This is just going to be how things go, apparently. John's a little more skilled than he'll give himself credit for as he pulls on rock after rock, and eventually they're starting to form a song.

I am pretty sure I was not great at puzzles in our old life. Why would I be any better at them in this one? [At least they're slowly playing music, but any time they hit a wrong note two more rocks are added to their pile to unearth.]

[ low blow but he was being honest. john found a drum so dave hooks a finger in john's collar and drags him over for a kiss. it's more demanding than his usual variety, but he's also a monster right now. so. ]

[Okay, yeah, like he isn't going to throw the rock somewhere else and forget what he's even supposed to be doing as he meets Dave for that kiss? Hi Dave, you're great. It's accidental when he passes some shadows into Dave's mouth but he's fine with that.]
