[ dying looking at her, and she'd looked more broken and serious than this, and he remembers why; her wedding, absurdly; arguing about which of them would die; a million other things. ]
...I can't...do you remember anything? Anythin' at all.
[ rose has never seen dave look more broken and serious than this, as far as she can remember. ]
You mean from when I apparently had the app before, months ago? No. No, I don't. [ there's a pause while i shift her freebie memory to being the first bc i can while rose considers why dave would ask her about what she remembers, because that seems kind of weird, surely her previous time with the app wasn't that important? maybe it was, but. ] I... do recall something odd. A fragment of a conversation I've never had.
[ yeah well THAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU REMEMBER HOMESTUCK ]
...Okay. Okay, what do you remember?
[ one thing. one fragment. he doesn't even know what he wants it to be.
no, that's a lie. he desperately, desperately wants her to remember something about him. at the same time, he wants her to not, ever, because it's such a dangerous road to tred. ]
I-- or, someone called "TT" asked someone they-- or I-- referred to as "Strider" to take a capture of my bedroom for "no particular reason". Whoever they, or I, [ SHE DOESN'T. KNOW. she knows it's her and yet ] were speaking to didn't respond. Then they went to someone called "GG" saying the previous recipient was not responding, and requesting they "bop him on the head with a puppet". GG refuses, saying that "he" would make them punch themself in the face again. I ask GG if they saw what I "wrote on the walls" and then am distracted presumably by GG saying that the unknown "he" made them punch themself in the face.
[ the whole tale, she's staring up to the side, reaching for each detail.
were it anyone but dave, she might hold pieces back. if this wasn't her first strange memory, she might as well,
but this is her first and this is dave, so she doesn't know what she would need to hold back. ]
This was all textual, also. Colored text. Purple and green.
[ he doesn't remember that. it's new, why the fuck would rose have asked -
capture of the bedrooms. the guide - right, she'd put captures of john's room in there. he'd written all over the walls, or the imps had, or something.
gg is jade, and dave's the he. because puppet.
wait, he made jade punch herself in the face??? ]
I don't remember that. Didn't. I don't know, maybe I will in a little bit - Rose, do you believe in past lives? I know everyone has told you this shit, or mentioned it, but...do you believe it?
Past lives. [ she considers it. ] I've always found it an interesting theory, but I've always considered it theoretical. I don't know if I could say that I fully believe in such a thing, but anything is possible. I would rank it above the idea of ceasing to exist, at the least. Mostly because that's lame.
[ she looks at dave, not quite frowning. ] Are you suggesting that it's more than a theory? That that fragmented text I remembered comes from a past life, not just some... whatever?
laughs. he's terrible at reacting how he should these days, and he knows it. he's not sure how to cry? it just...doesn't happen so much, so it's just a quiet burst of laughter and it's so egregiously wrong here. ]
I remember - [ rose lalonde, his favorite person, the way she tried to die for him - ] - I remember -
the human mind is faulty thing, dave is what she almost says. remembering something doesn't mean it's true.
but dave looks so... she's not even sure what, because this isn't the way he's ever looked to her before. the laughter does not help.
and truth be told, she doesn't know what's happening here. it could be mass psychosis, or it could be past lives. it needs further assessment before her "I'm in a psych 101 class" level of experience can figure it out. ]
What do you remember?
[ it's a vague, broad question. but she knows he probably doesn't specifically mean that od fragment she just told him about. he's been a part of this... whatever for eight months. her question probably deserves a vague, broad answer. ]
Well, that's... boring, I suppose, not to say that you're boring. You're the height of coolness. But what's the point of past lives if we weren't something fascinating, like royalty or serial killers?

I suppose it depends on what kind of monsters they were. Shouldn't lump them all together. That's racist.
