[He suppresses a sigh and lays on his back, still staring at the ceiling and not bothering to get his shirt.]

What time is it anyway?

[parodeity]

Six thirty eight. [ he doesn't give seconds, but comes back to bed and gets in on his side. ]

[windeity]

On a Friday. [He doesn't try to touch him again immediately but he shifts closer.] ...how's your head? [Back to this question again.]

[parodeity]

I'll survive. [ john doesn't try to touch him and all dave does is curl up against john's side like he often does. ] Go back to sleep for now.

[windeity]

[Dave curls up and John's arm immediately moves to pull him closer. The no-touching thing lasted a grand total of five seconds.] You're not going to sleep, are you?

[parodeity]

I intend to lie here and think about nothing.

[windeity]

That sounds...very boring. But peaceful. Does that help?

[parodeity]

Yes. [ his eyes are shut. ] You don't have to stay. [ if john gets too bored, although he'd have to shift his boyfriend off his shoulder first. ]

[windeity]

I don't have to, but I'm going to. So deal with it. [There's a quiet sigh.] ...what if we thought of something better than nothing?

[parodeity]

What do you want me thinking about?

[windeity]

Stuff we can do this summer now that we have our own house? We should definitely get a pool. [He's not serious, but it's a distraction.]

[parodeity]

I definitely don't have enough saved up for that.

[windeity]

Like one of those little inflatable ones, you can probably buy them from Walmart or Target or something.

[parodeity]

If you want, sure. You can get yourself floaty pool noodles too.

[windeity]

No, those things are dangerous. [Moving right along...he's also letting his hand idly play with Dave's hair.] Is it dumb I can't get over how glad I am to have an actual kitchen and a laundry room we don't have to share with a bunch of people?

[parodeity]

[ it's stressful and soothing at the same time, dave can't tell which is stronger. ] I miss the college laundry experience of one weird creepy person in the room whenever you have to use it at all times.

[windeity]

[If it's stressful, Dave, say something. It's idle motions and John not knowing where to go.]

Thanks but no thanks. I'm a lot happier without people stealing my socks at least.

[parodeity]

[ the touch is soothing, the conversation stressful, but he likes johns voice too much to ask for silence. ]

99% sure you just honestly lost half of those.

[windeity]

Yeah, maybe. [Silence again.] ...things are okay. [But that's all he says for right now.]

[parodeity]

Yes. Chill. We're fine, darlin'. [ he thinks john is maybe out of sorts but yeah ]

[windeity]

[A little, but not really for the reasons Dave might assume. So instead he just does as advised and chills, going quiet and letting his hand continue what it's doing with Dave's hair. He still can't see very well without his glasses and he doesn't move back, keeping himself close and letting himself kind of watch Dave for a few moment.

There's a lot to think about, but that's for him to think about later.

He doesn't say much but he does shift forward for another brief kiss, so there's that.]

[ it gets dave to open his eyes enough to squint at john, though he'd kissed back just as briefly. ]

You're a goddamned nuisance. [ but it's said so mildly he can't actually mind. then: ] Maybe I do want to go back to sleep, dork. [ or at least to zone out. he slides an arm around john's middle and turns his face towards john's shoulder, hiding from his too-awake boyfriend. ]

[There's no verbal reply but he's shaking with silent laughter so. Whatever. He doesn't speak up again and won't until Dave wants him to, but he shifts to accommodate for Dave's arm and also his face. It's fine. He doesn't really care and he's likely to go back to sleep this way but he's also not planning on letting Dave leave anytime soon.

Granted. He's not great at going back to sleep after he's been up and also he hasn't quite calmed down from working himself up earlier, but at least he's physically at rest even if his mind isn't.]

[parodeity]

[ whatever else is going on, dave seems to be capable of flipping himself off without too much trouble. his breathing is perfectly measured and he doesn't seem frustrated from earlier in the least. it gets less measured after a little while in the more natural rhythm of drifting off, so one of those rare moments of actually seeing dave fall asleep might be john's to have to treasure and maybe not ruin by moving around a lot. bye john. ]

[Everything else can be dealt with later. He stays awake and calm and still, a solid presence for Dave to cling onto as he drifts back to sleep. Bye Dave, rest well.

John's going to stay rigid and not move at all until Dave wakes up because disturbing him would be Awful. ...but at least he looks at ease like this. That's nice.]
