[The problem with Dave doing that is that John never quite knows what he's alluding to, so he gives Dave a curious look even when he's hip-checked.]

[ thanks dave. he was going to say do the family thing right because in one lifetime his dad had left and in the other john had probably expected to do just that, and that felt...

[On the one hand, yes, he would agree with that. On the other it's not something he'll think of first and he just kind of grins.]

We have all the time you need. I mean, you're dating me. That should come with some time-related perks?

I know you are joking around and stuff but I also really don't want to use your powers for more than we have to. [Like making out on New Year's.] You're stuck with me for a minimum of four years anyway, remember? And if I don't figure out the perfect house by then then that is an even bigger problem.

Are you going to have issues with perfect drapes after we locate the perfect house?

No, because we're getting blackout drapes. We already talked about this. [He sticks his tongue out but he's laughing anyway as he leads Dave to his car in the student lot on campus.] So...shut up.

I keep forgetting. [ that john would go to the trouble, thaT IT WOULD HELP... ] But thank you for remembering?

[Dave's extra clingy and John's extra attentive and together they're ridiculous.] Yeah. Maybe not for all of the windows but at least our room.

[He shakes his head.] We can talk more details about this whenever we find a place. I am just thinking out loud.

I've been thinkin' maybe I'll try new things? Whenever we move. [ thanks, dave. that explains a lot. ]

Yeah? [Yeah that explains literally nothing.] I don't think it's a bad thing for both of us to try some new stuff.

[Into the car then.] Whenever. I don't mind if that's what you want to do.

[But yes cool it's something to look forward to and off to the store they go to get dinner supplies. Good job team.]

[ dinner supplies and dinner and a movie - all in all a nice night? ]

[They shop, Dave gets to push the cart, and yes dinner and a movie and it's a good night for everybody. Good job kids.]
