Okay. [The easiest argument ever.] Just let me know if you want to switch, I don't mind. [He'll finally, reluctantly, slide off of Dave's back to get into the car.]
It's a date. [ which they are presumably gonna go on right now, closing out another thing. PROBABLY THE BED WILL BE DELIVERED later on move in day or something. or pre that. ]
[It's been a couple of days since they returned to Magatus and they've been steadily moving things to the new house. The new bed was delivered the day before and today's Tuesday which means it's date night and also...John promised to make a pizza.
The marks were starting to spread and he wasn't sure how to respond to that, so he didn't. The voices had stopped at least but his head throbbed a little as he went about his usual routine. He went to the grocery store while Dave was at work, stocking up on everything they need for the evening and dropping it off.
They were almost officially moved in by this point. A few more items and they could say goodbye to the dorm. The backseat of John's car had a few boxes but otherwise it's clutter-free and he texts Dave later that he'll pick him up from work.
And that's how he finds himself parked and idled waiting for Dave's shift to end, head leaning against the window and eyes shut with his arms folded over his chest. It shouldn't be long at least. And then...they can make dinner and hang out. That sounds good to him.]
[ i'm dumping this here because even tho u wrote the log and i checked it i like to be 100% sure i refer to the right shit: "Even when you return to the city the mark stays though it doesn't glow as bright. As you ignore the mark, or even as you puzzle out how to remove it, the mark will begin to spread over your skin as more time passes. Without breaking the curse the mark will begin to sting and act as a constant reminder that it's there, bringing forth physical ailments as well. Those who are cursed will begin to feel feverish and delirious, chills running through them and something akin to a particularly nasty case of the flu plaguing them. Nightmares begin to haunt them as well any time they close their eyes, the mark manifesting their failures into their dream-like state.
Whether by word of mouth, trial and error or simply talking it out, it becomes clear that the only way to break this curse is by admitting the failures the trees have brought forth and receiving forgiveness whether that's from who you've wronged, another party involved, or yourself. As the curse is broken, the mark simply dies down and all signs disappear into your skin, leaving you free to return to Magatus without fear of infection again."
anyway.
today's shift is the flower shop. when dave comes out it's a hair later than he said he would, which isn't usual for how prompt he is, but he opens the door and slides into the car and manages something of a smile. he's tired lately but it's Whatever (it's not whatever...) and not worrying john is a higher priority. ]
[His eyes hurt but he won't say so, forcing them open and greeting Dave with a grin of his own. He doesn't comment on being late since he likely didn't notice and he immediately reaches over to grab for Dave's hand. It's nothing in particular but he does just kind of hold his hand across the center console, rocking it back and forth.]
...maybe! I think I promised you a pizza, so that is tonight. Everything ingredients-wise is at the house.
It's okay. [He could maybe say the same about Dave, but he doesn't. He ignores the dull ache on his cheeks from his marks and the vague tightness in his skull as he holds Dave's hand.] The house is not that far and you just worked a full shift.
[Which means nothing, but he wants to be a good boyfriend. It's stupid. He wants to be at his peak to make sure Dave is taken care of and that includes feeding him and hanging out in the new house. He uses his free hand to put the car in drive and he pulls away from the curb to head home.]
I've worked longer hours. [ ...but he's not putting up that much of a fight about john dotesmiting or whatever for the moment. ] So...we're pretty much official tonight?
I know but my point stands. [There's a nod though.] I put the sheets on the bed this afternoon and I finished up grocery shopping. I had time to kill. Mewpac's at the house, too, so...I guess it is official.
That world of yours continues to be confusing and concerning. I can't imagine how bad things must've been to decide that resetting is the only way to salvage things.
