[When Anya hits Yuri's contact on her phone, she takes it for granted that she'll reach him. Sure, she's been trying to get in touch with her grandparents for a while and sometimes her calls with Yuri drop out - but he responds to texts fine and she said she would call him after his scheduled rehearsal like she does every two weeks or so. So she's trying to do that.
When the dial tone stops and it sounds like he's picked up, she doesn't hesitate - ]
Good evening, Yuratchka! Did rehearsal go okay today?
[It's all in Russian but - well, the name should stand out enough.]
[ dave texts or calls yuri when he can. it's weird and hard and he hates how much has been forgotten but he's good at pretending sometimes and so he does call him. when he hears russian it's always anya or yuri he thinks of first, and picking up the phone to hear it isn't that weird but anya doesn't correct herself into english and she says yuri's nickname and dave gets it, immediately. ]
I think I caught the part about "evenin'". [ and his name. but. ] Sorry, An.
[she knows that voice and normally she'd be happy to hear it. very happy but... well. that means that yuri is out of reach then, doesn't it? just like grandma and grandpa.... there's a pause and anya feels the guilt settle in her chest. she shouldn't suddenly feel so lonely when she's talking to one of her favorite people]
Davechka...
[ . . . right.
she makes a brief humming noise as she tries to gather the words she wants. should she just pretend that didn't happen? or...]
... Have you tried to call people outside the city?
[and she'll hang up then, heading over to the dorms as promised. she will also perk up immediately whenever she does see him, waving her hand openly to greet him]
[ it's dave in like, two sweaters and a jacket and a scarf but this isn't UNUSUAL since he is weak to cold and she knows this. he'll jog over when he spots her, though, and then since the request was A Hug he'll. hold open his arms? ]
[dave is weak to cold and anya still is not wearing pants. at least she's got stockings??? we're sort of making progress here.
her eyes light up when he opens his arms for a hug though. she knows that dave's been more touchy about physical affection over the past few months but. when there's an invitation like that, she doesn't hesitate. she reaches out for him and then immediately plasters herself against him like best friends do]
Hello...
[a little sheepishly. she's already feeling better though]
[ it's okay. he'll let certain people touch him at certain times when he chooses to do so, and with the warning for this and making the choice, he doesn't tense up when anya plasters herself, but just loosely puts his arms around her. ]
[well she doesn't have quite the same ability to say it with certainty, but her confidence is the same. she pulls away from the hug but still holds onto dave's hand and gives it a brief squeeze]
Oсталось... we will still be here, and it will be okay. Even if it a little harder.

Before it gets better. [ if it does. ] I haven't had much luck gettin' through to Yuri, either.
no subject
... I hope it will get better.
[hope is the most important part, isn't it?]
Earlier in the month I could but.... отсоединены. It feels like the line is not there anymore.

[ but that's as far ahead as his elf eyes can see. ]
...Usually shit stops on the first, but...? This is...more gradual than other things.

[She repeats the word slowly - and she just barely manages to bite back a sigh.]
Cмысл? What do you think it means? It is sad if people cannot reach their families for holidays.

... где? Where are you? Can I get a hug?
no subject
[ dave's bad at asking for hugs himself, but there are certain people he'll provide them to. ]

[she called him silly but y'know. same thing]

Hey. Today kinda sucks a little, huh?
no subject
Hемного... A little bit. But I am doing better now.
[The hug helps. Seeing Dave helps.]
I do not understand very much of what is happening... but I think it will all still be okay.
no subject
[ ...well. there's that. ]
By the end of the month. By the start of the next one. I will be.

...What kinds of things have you been remembering?
no subject
Songs... Dances...
[but she's normally pretty excited about those so. she's more nervous about something else - ]
I... think my friend got sick? Hедавний... That is the one I last remember.

[ THAT'S ACTUALLY A LITTLE WORRYING... ]
no subject
[Though she doesn't sound sure.]
She had... лихорадка? They said that she worked too hard. So I hope it is not very bad sick.
