When you consider how much effort goes into each form of art, from time spent painting to time spent developing... It's frustrating to see it dismissed by people who do not think it is a viable or worthy pursuit outside of hobbies.
I will have to read more about the process of photo development. There is more to it than I had considered, certainly.

Taking good photographs would make transferring them to canvas much easier, for one.
But it is good to know a single mistake does not ruin the original film as long as you treat it with care.
