[The more Dave doesn't talk, the more Dirk is unsettled. He has lived his whole life in silence and now he doesn't know what to do with Dave's. He ends up settling down in one of the kitchen seats and half-turning away from Dave.

He has to keep it together. He has to be patient and wait. It will take time.

[ dave doesn't start up another conversation, but he does eventually start muttering to...himself. that isn't a thing he tends to pay attention to. it's hard to pick out what the fuck he's saying, but it's presumably related to the items he's pulling out in preparation for his Completely Winging It sandwich.

[It's a little better. At least it isn't silence. Dirk folds his arms on the table, and slowly, he lets his head lower to rest. He watches Dave out of the corner of his eye.
