Jeans and slacks go in respective places and there are plenty of t-shirts that get hung up, too. He doesn't mind chatting while he does this, but it's also a strange shift like he's still feeling Dave out himself.]

So movies and dead stuff. Those are pretty different but at the same time they are both parts of history. It's sort of cool. You're just undecided?

Kinda. I thought about it a little back in February, but my priorities have changed, I guess.

Yeah. College lasts for four years minimum so you could in theory change your mind halfway through and go from there. I am sure I will be tempted to change my mind a lot even if I don't go through with it.

I wouldn't say no, sure. I ended up coming here with a lot more than I thought. Most of it is easy to unbox but how good are you with your hands?

Extremely. [ which. YEAH? if he were willing to flashstep he could have it all done...even faster. time travel? FASTER STILL. as it is, dave just takes his headphones off to put on the bed with his phone, and then stands to go over to the boxes. ] I've always been pretty fast, too.

That's cool. Speed isn't exactly my best asset but I'm better than I used to be. [He moves to hand Dave a slightly larger, flatter box.] Think you can put this together for me? It's shelving, I wasn't sure if the room would have a bookcase and I sort of need one.

I'm not even sure you need a hammer. [Reference. Lost.] It should just be sliding the pieces together which is the easy part. And the sooner I get this all set up the better. I can stop stepping on everything spread out everywhere.

Because that is technically what it is. [The instructions are easy and John's still putting away his clothes while this is going on.] Otherwise my books and my movies are all going on the floor and that will probably not work.

Normally shelves make people think of hammers and nails?

Then maybe I do not think normally like people since I specifically bought those so I wouldn't have to fuck with hammers and nails. But I get your point. [Books go here, clothes go here, a gray blanket that was definitely blue once goes here...] Once that's built the rest will go by in no time.

And what kind of metric is that? [Dave opens the next box and he's greeted with a bunch of movies. They range from good movies to movies that give off John's questionable taste. While he's doing that, John's opening a smaller box to pull out a few other items including a deck of cards, a mouse, a pair of headphones, etc.] I'll just rearrange them later if I have to.

...I mean, usually I do it by how much they rock, or color, or alphabetical, or director...it depends on the day? I will be less annoying and go alphabetically for now.

Alphabetical will work for me. Until one of us gets bored. I don't think I really have an organized system so that is better than what I could come up with. Thanks? [He's busy pulling out some other books, too, to stick in the shelves.]
