WEEK ONE: THURSDAY MORNING, POOL
[ hey vi how is your day going are you up for a TEAM MEETING because dave will flag you down with.
oh my god why his his left pointer finger broken? and also his right pinky. they are splinted and wrapped but uh. that was not a thing yesterday? he almost assuredly took her aside yesterday to go "yo breaking into a thing tonight" so.
apparently that went Well.
better come see how well????? ]

once they're safely out of earshot of anyone, ] What happened to your hand? Did you get into a fight?
no subject
Mousetraps. [ that sounds. so stupid. but. ] They like. Magically snapped my fingers when I went to try to grab some shit in the Storage room. But the public story is, for the record, that I tried to catch a bookshelf Dirk knocked over at the lodge and, like, it did not go well.
no subject
Mousetraps? [ magical mousetraps what the heckie gosh darn?? ] Okay, that. That sounds like a good story, at least. Was he with you? [ ARE YOU OKAY, DUDE, ] What did you try to grab?
no subject
He wasn't, I just...asked him to cover for me later. But he doesn't know about my role. Or about us. [ SO... ] I was tryin' to grab some, uh, dangerous cleanin' chemicals? To pour out so people couldn't, like, use them for murder.
[ idiot. ]
But before that I did learn some stuff. Not sure what the fuck it means as of yet, but...
no subject
Okay. [ though she can't tell if that means dave is trying to trust him or nah. she supposes it doesn't matter until dave decides whether dirk is trustworthy or not. she won't press on it, for now. that would be impolite. ] That's. Well, it would have been good if you could have, but I guess our captors would rather that people do use them for murder.
[ but at least now they know they're there?? hopefully no one else has a skeleton key, though. assuming the room won't be eventually unlocked. ugh. ]
What kind of stuff?
no subject
[ mannequins are puppets. ]
Mostly what was in there were newspapers and some old photographs. The papers were maybe more helpful...there was one about some lady, Abigail Hobbs, winnin' the "Hopkins Award for Science" for her theory in the HP Formula. As in Lovecraft, I guess? It's not an actual formula, I don't think, not in my world. There was also something about the buildings in Northern Yuggoth supposedly planned to be demolished in the spring, because of an arsonist - so...I think that's the city we're in now? I mean...I think we're in the North. Because in the South, there's some South Yuggoth forest that's meant to have a radio tower.
no subject
[ deadpan. ok. she's not even surprised. ]
Well, that's something. I know I've never heard of an HP Formula before. Or any formula related to HP Lovecraft. [ who is totally a guy who would exist in asoue. ] That makes sense, since there are several burned down buildings, but no forest or radio tower-- which just figures, since a radio tower would be really helpful. If we could get to it.
no subject
[ SAID. VEHEMENTLY. ]
We might be able to get there later, but...okay, wait, there was more to the articles. Abigail was supposed to be awarded at the reception on July 1st...the wording was, lemme think. "For her extraordinary leadership, inspiration, and advocacy to studying the dimensional possibilities of our future. Her exceptional contributions to mathematics in the HP Formula is the foundation of quantum physics." So the HP Formula, whatever the fuck it is, probably has to do with alternate dimensions and may be how we got here.
There was also more on the radio tower...it was supposed to start bein' constructed on July 14th, and it was supposed to tie into communication with park rangers to ensure missin' tourists could access the radio frequency in the deepest part of the forest durin' trips. It was supposed to be set up with a grant from the Phillips Foundation, I think?
no subject
[ JUST. OFFERS THAT, HELPFULLY. ]
I knew it had to be scientific. [ muttered. take that, dipper pines, the paranormal is still maybe fake!! ] In theory, that should mean there's a way home, if we learn this HP Formula and how it applies to practical use.
Hmm. Do we have any idea what date it is now? Though, I guess it only matters if we knew the year then and now. The town seems abandoned now. They hadn't had a chance to demolish the burnt buildings, so it might have been June or July when... something happened, I would think, since towns don't just suddenly become abandoned. So, did they have a chance to build the radio tower is the question.
[ with their luck, nah, ]
no subject
[ YOU DO YOU, VI. ]
I don't know the date right now, nah. But...this means we have a week for me to decide where I wanna break in next. I mean, until Monday. Or Sunday? One of the days. But uh...there are a lot of locked doors, so I'm not sure what to do. I...might pick the Unmarked on in the Motel...? I'm not sure. I'm not gonna redux Storage since I've been there, and I don't want to bother breakin' into the burnt buildings, because I think those might not need me to get in...
no subject
[ they're both weirdoes. ]
There are a lot. At least this one yielded something useful, maybe the others will too... and hopefully no more mousetraps. The unmarked one would be a good idea, maybe, since we have no idea what it even is. I don't know if there's really a bad door you could choose, either way we'll learn something. Hopefully. The Gas Station market one has a blue light you can see under it, but it's up to you. [ there's no wrong answer and she trusts dave. ] I've been wondering about the burnt buildings. I could see if I could break into one so we can find out for sure if they need a key or not, though I'm not sure if it would require just brute strength or ingenuity.
[ can she use ingenuity to create brute strength tho. ]
no subject
[ SINCE THE MODS SAID TO WAIT TILL WEEK 2 TO BRING IT UP, I ASKED, BUT MOVING ON ]
There might be a bad door if there's...somethin' behind it. There was, uh, a tentacle that tripped me up and a...maybe ghost? I'm not sure. There was somethin' in the room, although it didn't...attack me, exactly, 'till the mousetraps. I might open a door with somethin' less friendly behind it. Or someone less friendly. But I'll tell you every time when I'm gonna go and which door I'm gonna do. So at least if something happens...
[ violet will know what occurred. to the best degree she can. ]
no subject
[ OK THAT SAVES ME A PM I WAS GOING TO MAKE, ]
A... [ opens mouth. DAVE WHY DIDN'T YOU LEAD WITH THIS. ] A tentacle and... a maybe ghost? [ does she have to apologize to dipper pines about ghosts being real. ] That's. That's not good. I'd ask if it's worth risking, but... I'm not sure what else we can do. Please be careful?
[ she would feel awful if dave was like "goin' to a room later" and then wound up dead or hurt worse than two fingers, with her only knowing what room he went to. ]
no subject
[ in case he dies or something? lmao ]
The mayor's office or the archives may not be bad options either. Most documents seem to be in gibberish that we can get to, but the newspapers weren't, so...
no subject
[ that. is a dumb plan SHE'S JUST WORRIED... ]
So there might be more things not in gibberish that we could learn from in those rooms.
no subject
[ BUT. THAT...ISN'T...THE WORST PLAN? like it's not a great one, but. ]
Yeah, there might be. I discounted them originally 'cause of the gibberish, but if there's a chance some of the documents aren't obscured...
[ it could be worth using his key on one of them. ]
no subject
[ or something worse than mousetraps. :| ]
I'd think since the newspapers weren't, and they seemed to have some new information we couldn't find before, anything else behind a locked door wouldn't be in gibberish either. [ biting her lip. ] I almost wonder if we need some kind of... notebook to keep track. In code, obviously. So we don't forget anything.
[ klaus probably would have done that first thing but violet isn't a note-taking reader, she just builds things. ]
no subject
[ he doesn't want to upset the ghosts either lmfao... ]
Do you know any codes? I can probably remember this shit easily enough, just like. Rap it out. It might be safer not to keep track of it in print, almost, because...
[ ... ]
Well, no guarantee people wouldn't find a coded notebook or be able to break it, y'know?
no subject
[ then she doesn't like that ]
We could make one, I would think. [ pause ] Rap it out?
That's true. I'd hate to say I don't trust most of the people here, but, well. I don't trust most of the people here.
no subject
[ VI HE HAS TO TAKE YOU TO THE JUKEBOX SOMETIME but anyway. ]
Me either. But if we get a small group we can trust, we'll be set...for a while.
no subject
[ WEEK TWO MONDAY, VI AND DAVE HANG OUT AT THE JUKEBOX ]
That sounds like a plan.
no subject
[ IT'S A PLAN. also ig dave decided on the "small group" he wanted rip guys NO ONE BE MAFIA, OKAY, ]
no subject
[ god if any of their scooby gang is mafia they all dead they gonna die bye ]
no subject
Uh. Yeah! That'd be cool? Like a scheduled day. On a date of the week. Right. Maybe...next week sometime?
no subject
Sure! Like Monday. Or Tuesday, if you're busy Monday? Or Wednesday, if not Monday or Tuesday.
no subject
Uh. Monday afternoon may work? Or Tuesday, I'm not sure, I know one of the early days of the week I will, you know, do the thing. But like. Before or after that??
no subject
Right! And well, we'll need to talk after you do the thing, anyway, probably? Though maybe not by the jukebox. But that sounds good?
no subject
It does! Yeah. That sounds good? I mean, we'll have more information for me to give you by then, so.
[ this is a great team, since dave basically just. grabs info, and uses vi's role for cover.
save them. ]
no subject
Okay, great! It's a da-- plan. It's a plan.
[ vi feels she is the weak part of this team but if dave ever needs a trap rigged she can help there at least?? or something else built.
they cannot be saved. ]
no subject
HE HOLDS OUT A FIST FOR A BUMP MAYBE ALWAYS CAN SAVE THEM. ]
no subject
she fistbumps him, let always save them as they go find murder tomorrow.
except-- ] Be careful about your broken fingers. [ when. fistbumping. ]
no subject
Oh, shit. Well, uh, it didn't hurt, but. I'll keep it in mind?
no subject
[ and then dave did not keep it in mind, gestures at the trial, and vi forgot to scold him gdi ]
no subject
[ PROBABLY IT WAS BECAUSE SHE WAS APPALLED BY ALL THE BLATANT LYING AND CASUAL DISCUSSION OF CONVICTS ]
