I don't think I want to call it magic, thanks. [She was having enough trouble wrapping her head around it existing at all really.] It's just...something I don't understand yet.
[She swats the toy back again, faster still this time.]
But I don't know. I mean, how would you know it was happening if you didn't...have it. So you could sense it? Maybe?
[ first evil psychic thing to come to mind? let him rest. ]
Seriously though I hope no one ever uses psychic bullshit on me? Like...what all could people do? I know telepathy is a thing, but what other psychic skills are there?
[Eleanor reached out and one of the toys near Dave's feet floated into the air and darted over to her.]
So you see, Doctor Strider, there is nothing you can possess I cannot take away.
[and then she giggled.]
Uh. Hm. There are a bunch of like, 'kinesis' things, right? I found them when I was looking up mine. Like pyro and cryo and stuff. But mental things? I think it's mostly just telepathy. Everything seems to be like...part of that.
Controlling...minds? [Eleanor laughed sheepishly, but shrugged.]
I don't know. I mean I suppose you could...well. You could do almost anything, really. Rob a bank. Make someone like you. Or make someone think they like you, anyway. Have someone change your grade?
[Eleanor Lamb: Clearly not a criminal mastermind.]
Maybe. [Eleanor's voice dropped a bit.] I'd like to think you couldn't force someone to do something they wouldn't do, you know? You can't just...mind control someone into being a murderer.
[But the world was making a pessimist of her anymore...]
And next time I fall asleep in class I'm blaming mind control. Just to see what happens.
[Being a senior was handy, since she could kind of stop worrying about getting i trouble for little things.]
[Eleanor's voice turned distant, and she took a half-step backwards, frowning at...nothing, from the looks of it. After a few seconds, maybe five, she shook her head, her eyes closing, forehead wrinkled, as if trying to shake something off, and then she sucked in a breath.]
Uh. [Another hesitation.] I...uh. T-Thanks Dave. This has been...Look, I gotta go.
No, it's not- [She started to wave it off, stopped and sighed, and then just shook her head. But she offered him a smile, if a somewhat...shaken...one.]
Don't worry about it. It's not your fault they keep making us see...awful things. [She shrugged.] But. I'm gonna go. Thanks for training. We'll do it again soon, yeah?
[And then she set off on an adventure in getting off the windowsill and back home.]

[She'll make a show of putting on an evil laugh...which causes her to miss the toy, which bounces harmlessly against the window.]
Whoops.
[Her evil laugh turns into a real one.]

[ well. ]
Someone havin' that level of control over you ain't a pretty thought.

Horrible. I mean, even if you...if they could do something like that, you couldn't really stop yourself. You'd just have to watch, right?
