And don't tell me you're about to start lecturing me on the different cultures of ghosts or whatever. They're just ghosts. They're not even real.

[ He's about 80% sure at this point that this kid's from Retrospec. He could also just be completely bananas and be some regular guy on the street who thinks he knows ghosts, but James is willing to take those odds. ]

Just because I remember some elf speedo model jumping out of a plane doesn't mean he's real.

Have you even seen a ghost in real life? Like, actual real life, not your memories.

All they've proven is that Retrospec is seriously creepy and trying to mess with my head. Just because Retrospec said it doesn't mean it's real.

They're playing mind games. They wanna send us a bunch of suspicious junk and give us weird fake memories that make no sense.

[ He shrugs, as if this is obvious. ]

It's Beckham's Razor. The simplest solution is the one that's right. It's way simpler for Retrospec to just be messing with us, than for any of this to actually be real.

[ He means Occam's razor. ]

Yeah okay, fine. Beckham's Razor, Mockham's Razor, whatever it's called. You get the idea. The simplest idea is the one that's real.

I think the thing is we disagree on what idea is simplest. Like...y'know, it makes sense to me if this shit were real moreso than if it were fake?
